Running this for my players has been an amazing experience over all. They started to distrust everything in the house and we're scared at every corner. 10/10, I can only recommend this.

I'm not that much of an experienced DM yet and it was also my first adventure with some horror elements in it, so I was a bit unsure of myself, but it turned out great! When one of the enemies revealed themselves for the first time, they decided to capture and interrogate it, but since they hadn't encountered the dolls yet, they ended up leaving said enemy behind captured in a glass jar and I had one of the dolls free him by pushing the jar of the table, shattering the glass. They heard the shatter, went back and freaked the f out cause he was gone. One of my players was a bit disappointed since they got trapped in the painting quite early on and missed a good chunk of the exploring until the others managed to free Peoni who could help them with it. The final fight was insane and a lot of fun for all of us and Peoni came in clutch after the fight when everything started to crumble and they struggled a bit to get out in time.

One of my players decided to get the Sword of Blood Horror as a reward from Nulfi and try to find a way to "help" it somehow. He's a peace cleric and decided he wanted to give the sword peace somehow. I will have to see if I can figure out something for him, maybe during the Old Host segment, where there could be an Altar or something that he could sacrifice the sword's fear to? Definitely a really fun magic item, my party loved and felt really bad for it xD

I ran this one as a halloween special in our regular campaign, the party loved it. They stole one of the artifacts for one of the absent members (the sword) can't wait how that's going to end up.

The Faerie Coffins works perfectly as both a self contained adventure or as the begining of a larger plot. The horror elements of this adventure are handled really well, as it's not a simple gore blood fest, but rather a well developed sense of suspense and mystery. The new stat blocks really help as the players won't know what they are fightning with. The whole adventure takes place inside an abandoned Inn with many interesting rooms, the characters can interact with it in many fun ways while they are followed by creepy dolls. The adventure also contains new magic items that are thematic and interesting, my favorite is the Sword of Blood Horror which is totally not what it sounds like. The story is driven with the characters following and collecting creepy dolls all over the inn, with their tiny steps and creepy sounds guiding them from place to place. This is great to move the story forward and to give a clear objective.

Minor nit picks that can be easily edited:

  • Area A describes six doors leading away from the room. The map shows only 5 doors.
  • The characters can learn about the Nulfidar's past connections to the Feywild, but how they learn it is handwaved rather quickly. I would love to see some more descriptions.
  • One portrait says "Elustrial Silverhand". Pretty sure it is supossed to be "Alustriel". Loved the cameos tho.
  • Alongside the first mention of Garl Glittergold, there should be a brief description of who he is. I know he is the god of gnomes, but a (god of gnomes) would be cool to see.
  • This adventure contains a lot of magic items from Xanathar's Guide to Everything. While I have the book, some others DM may need to replace them with trinkets.
  • Finally, I think this adventure contains maybe too much treasure for a Tier 1 adventure, though not everyone will be running it as part of a larger campaign.
  • The adventure could technically end really quickly if the characters find the trapdoor leading to the "final boss"

I am currently playing this with my family and we are loving it. My daughter was really feeling the fear as she was being stalked by the dolls. My players also chose backgrounds as members of the emerald enclave prior to finding out what the campaign would be about so I think that will play in well. Thanks for this adventure, I am excited to play the rest!

The mechanics really fit the theme in this game. Between the shapeshifting and stealth abilities of the monsters in this module your players will be suprised at every turn! The art is beautiful as well!

This is by far one of the best adventures that I have seen that uses a dryad as a horror villain.

The Faerie Coffins can be a nice first adventure or a side adventure depending on what you want for your group. The adventure gives enough material for DM that makes it coherent and understandable. The thought and insight given about the lore related to the fey is really well done, which gives some idea on how much research the writer did. I love the balance for investigation, social interaction, and combat encounter, which should give every player a chance to shine and enjoy things.
