I was quite satisfied with this list of spells. Many of them were absolutely iconic. I did have to replace one of the Selesnya spells, and I created detention sphere on my own, which I feel is absolutely the most iconic Azorius spell there is. Maybe besides Supreme Verdict, but I don't see how you could convert that spell in a balanced fashion.

I had a ton of fun reading through these, as a longtime fan of Ravnica I loved seeing cards I knew translated into spells for D&D 5e

Pros:

  • Faithfully recreated spells from MtG
  • Most spells well balanced and usable right out of the pdf
  • Mostly well layed out with good use of art
  • PWYW makes it more accessable

Cons:

  • I have made alterations to all of the spells I have used, but found them to be great starting points
  • The last page is wierdly empty on the right half

Overall 4/5, I would absolutely recommend it to anybody using Ravnica as a setting regardless of familiarity with the card game and the suggested price of $3 is absolutely reasonable for what you get.

Thanks for the rating and review! Detention Sphere was listed in error, which I have now fixed. I initially made a Detention Sphere spell and I was really happy with it, until I learned about Otiluke's Resilient Sphere, a spell from the PHB which was nearly identical. Here is my version if you want to use it anyway. I think you'll notice the similarities. Detention Sphere 4th-level conjuration Casting Time: 1 action Range: 60 feet Components: V, S, M (a marble or bead) Duration: Concentration, up to 1 hour You attempt to enclose a creature other than yourself in a glowing sphere of force levitating 5 feet from the ground. A creature you choose of size Large or smaller within range must succeed at a Dexterity saving throw or be trapped in the sphere. As an action on its turn, the detained creature or a creature within 5 feet of it can make a Strength check against your spell save DC. On a success, it destroys the sphere. Only breathable air can pass through the sphere's wall. No attack or other effect can. While a creature is detained in this sphere, you can use a bonus action on your turn to move the sphere up to 30 feet.

These add so many interesting roleplaying opportunities! I love the utility of Radical Idea and Pilfered Plans. These spells definitely seem well balanced, and I would be happy to include these in my Ravnica games.

Over all, these spells add some love to the guilds and respect the cards they are based from. Though, Dreadbore seems incredably overpowered. With it, a single Rakdos Blood Witch could likely kill most of the population of Horizon Military Academy. Would recomend lowering the damage or requiring the last target hit to die before you can target the next creature.

Thanks for the review and the kind words! I am interested in balancing these spells, but I'm not sure why you think Dreadbore is so strong. You need to make a successful hit in order to keep propagating. I think it is considerably less powerful than lightning bolt or fireball, which are both also level 3 and still deal half damage on a successful save.
