This is a sorely needed update to the base ranger class, which was kind of fixed with the Revised Ranger, but WOTC hasn't gone through yet with actually publishing it in a sourcebook, which makes me think they aren't quite confident with it yet. I think that this is a cleaner solution, adjusting individual features instead of reworking the entire class. The buffs are strong and go a long way towards making the ranger useful in more situations.
