Personally I prefer races over the new 5e aspect of lineages. Race actually has ability scores that reflect their heritage. Moving past my soapbox... Sometimes supplemental material values quantity over quality - this product tip toes that line but there are enough gems in here that it is okay - especially for a Pay What You Want product.
Pros - Having subraces for previously used monstrous races like goblins, hobgoblins and kenku were exciting not just to me as a DM but for my players as well and have been used in multiple campaigns. I still am waiting to have a PC play a lesser illithid... I would be so excited to see that roleplay! Drow are a problem... Mind flayers are a totally different kind of nightmare. I had a PC play a myconid druid in an Out of the Abyss campaign and we had a lot of fun with it.
Cons - No artwork for some of the new races that even though there was flavor text involved, I doubt how I envision the race actually reflects what it looks like to the author. Some races have way more racial traits to them to the point that they feel imbalanced and some tend to move in the opposite direction as well. There are a few of these races that are official races at this pont. This needs an update.
