A very mixed (two 1st levels, 2 second-levels, a third, and fourth level) party enjoyed running through the first and second modules of the trilogy. It is hard to write adventures in this tier that can accomodate a range like that, so I'd give it 5 stars for balance. The "story reward" for the first module is TERRIFIC and my players got a huge kick out of it--"Furrball" is very original and fun.

...but for a two-hour module, the first part of this adventure has far, far too much time spent walking around the town and a quest-giver NPC that only finds the party in the final third of the game. No good! (I really felt I couldn't run this as written, hence the 3 stars overall rating) So I moved part of one of the final encounters with a woman dying of the blight to the very first encounter and then let the party be motivated by 1) solving the mysterious death, and 2) finding her son to warn him/break the terrible news. Much better start!

To make this run in the tight Adventure League time constraints: be prepared to "re-cap" the options frequently for the players so they don't wander around aimlessly, eg. "You could follow the cat or go to the onion farm." Also, in this season (7), I would recommend that DMs remind players about the death curse before the game and drop Really, Really strong hints about life-draining monsters during the game. Nonetheless, one of the second-levels got hit with a 5-HP life drain that's gonna hurt for the next several levels!

The end of the second module really doesn't feel like an end-point at all. My players were disppointed to not be able to reach their goal. I feel that Adventure's League titles should be able to stand on their own, even when they are part of a trilogy. (The other reason for the 3-star rating.) I tried to make the final fight epic--and the players enjoyed it--but it didn't feel like a satisfactory end for the story.

One other minor quibble: Why aren't there twig blights or vines? There could be more monster variation in these first two modules (there are lots of zombies) and twig blights would make a lot of sense.
