Fun roleplay moments to skip combat which usually goes "I swing my sword" over and over till the boss dies.

I've been a major fan of the writers ever since this dynamic duo made the amazing Neverdusk Trilogy. So you can imagine my excitement when I saw that the two were collaborating on another trilogy together!

One thing I noticed about the writers is that their NPCs are very compelling. The mod is written in such a way where the character’s decisions really matter. As an RP heavy Dungeon Master, I had a field day with this mod. The characters are pushed in a situation where they have to make compelling decisions, which will absolutely have consequences down the road. The combat is intense as well. Players will need to be smart, and find creative solutions to get through them safely. What’s cool about this mod is that the RP of the players can really affect the combat. So I was pleasantly surprised to see that as well. 10/10, I think that this is another masterpiece, and I would be happy to run this mod any day!

Three words: thicc goliath waifu. 10/10 GOTY

For real though, the adventure itself is very solid. As a DM, it was fun to set up the situation for the players and let them go wild with theories, gradually discover the truth, and then agonize over doing the right thing. Without spoiling anything, I think my players made the 'right' decision, for which they were rewarded with a pretty damn tough combat that they managed to slog through by the skin of their teeth. Challenging, but also fulfilling.

I also noted that there was some foreshadowing seeded throughout the adventure, like certain clues and certain characters surviving. I assume this is setting up an eventual sequel of some sort, so I'm looking forward to that.

I loved the vivid descriptions of NPCs and environment, it was a delight to explore and interact with them. NPCs are nicely fleshed-out and feel 'real', not just cardboard cut-outs, and interacting with them did actually feel emotionally satisfying.

The story progression and climax were also very refreshing, forcing us to make difficult choices and live with the consequences. I thoroughly enjoyed the adventure, and would be interested in doing another playthrough to make different choices and see if the story develops in another direction.

I and the two groups I ran this module for thoroughly enjoyed this adventure, even though they ended up getting two completely different endings. While the text puts the adventurers in what seems to be the end of a long journey to their destination, it doesn't take more than a few moments before the characters find unusual circumstances worthy of investigation. Both parties took their time scouring locations for clues and leads to unravel figure out what the source of conflict was, and needless to say it led to some interesting and morally-ambiguous choices being made near the end of the session.

The references to locations and ideas in Asia, as well as the not-so-subtle pop culture references contained in the module were taken enthusiastically by my players, with one even making theories based on names after the end of the session. The combat is solid, memorable, and not a push-over for unprepared players (which is almost a defining trait of one of the authors).

This is an adventure worth having in your pocket as a stand-alone Adventurers League module, or as a side quest in your long-term campaigns given the fallout of the player's actions.
