I ran this as a one-shot as a first-time DM and it was a brilliant experience for me and my players (as far as I could tell). I second the other reviews that the module was very well prepared and easy to run but there was plenty of room to add my own flavor to it. My players were completely engrossed in the story and when I was presenting, they sat there open-eyed likes kids at bedtime story time. When they realized what Moira had done, they collectively decided that it was because if the drought had never happened, the baby would never have been abandoned in the first place.

I admit to being a little biased because this adventure was written for my birthday (thanks Jesse!!) but it is honestly my favorite one-shot adventure I've ever played! It's difficult to write a mystery that gives players enough information but not too much, but this one absolutely achieves that. We worked hard to achieve a happy ending and pulled it off only by the skin of our teeth! It led to a fun, occasionally silly, but ultimately very emotional session that none of the players will soon forget.

You gave my players the feels and they hated me for it once they realized what she had done and insisted we find a way to rescue the baby which I concocted to prevent a mutany. If I would change anything it would be to have some kind of meaningful oneshot trinket since my players like carrying those between adventures and the witches knife didn't serve any plot purpose.

Seeing the Name and Poster for this adventure made me think it would be a lot more of a horror story than the very sweet and complicated emotional journey through Moira's life. The adventure also feels incredibly unique, almost as inside humor between DMs. The tropes employed are played earnestly, and the story is not made to be a joke.

The base laid out in this module is fantastic to work with. The idea of NPCs not being themselves, and any accents/personality traits being imposed on them by one traumatized girl is a goldmine to draw roleplay inspiration from. A fight with a hulking wooden puppet brute while maybe a bit stale is a wondeful base to add on some manly (read nasty) belching through a breath attack to highlight Moiras dislike of his hygene. Or maybe even his exaggeratedly long/unkempt finger nails work as ranged splinter attacks.

There is a lot of care and guidance given to DMs with this module so that if necessary they can be completely prepared for the many ways players might interact with the town. I think that shows a significant understanding of how much work good DMing is, and I appreciate the respectable amount of work already done for me.

Not sure how to do an accent of someone doing 5 other accents.. but yeah ! Really short and sweet module.

My read through of this was so gripping that I couldn't put it down. I can't wait to run it for my players and see what they think of it.

I've been playing since the early 1980s and I can't remember an adventure that hooked me in so completely as the DM. My players are going to love it!

This author will be an automatic buy for future adventures!

I absolutely adore this module. The premise is absolutely inspired and the provided info about the town meant I had very little improvising to do. The combat encounters are well planned with tactics for the enemies without being overly prescriptive. My players found the whole experience very moving and poignant. This is certainly my new go-to module to introduce new players to D&D. Well worth the price and highly recommended!

Update 2/21: I finally got the chance to run this module for my friends last night. If I could, I'd increase my raiting! My group had a blast playing this module. Jesse definitely did a great job giving you everything you needed to run it, and to help with improvizing when your party inevitably surprises you by doing thing's that no one could easially anicipate players doing ahead of time.

Make sure you take the time to read through this multiple times before you run it. You don't need to memorize it word for word, but it really helps to have a firm understanding of Moira and her shattered psyche, along with the personalities of the other towsfolk.

Original Review: I have not ran this module yet, as I am currently putting a group together to play it with, so I will update my review once I've ran it.

But I have read through it multiple times.

This is an amazing module. I love the art style. The character portraits give you the canvas that lets your mind fill in the details using the descriptions of each character.

It comes with STL files so you can 3d print minis for the main NPCs! How cool is that?!? I'll definitely be printing then when I get a resin printer.

Now, this is definitely an emotional module. It made me emotional just reading it. I can already imagine how two of my players will react to certain outcomes.

Jesse does a great job of giving you enough background and giving you enough about the NPCs that you can help Moira bring them to life at your table.

I can not wait to run this!

Wow. I bought this quite a few weeks ago and wanted to try it with my players who are a very strong hero group of guys. This module really got to them, the way it's written, the characters, the twists and the story my players really fell in love with Moira and Valestone! They had an amazing time and said (in our 3 year campaign) it was one of the best quests they've ever done (Ouch! but it stands to how good this is) Jesse really outdid himself with this, it has incredible heart and is written so so well. I was hesitant with so few NPC's but playing the puppets is super fun, it's funny at first but becomes so sad when the players find out the truth. The combat is well balanced and the betrayal of Fergus really angered my party and they gave no mercy to him or Shadrach. They liked her so much they let her make the wish and loved the results, valestone will be a return village in my campaign now! If you're on the fence please pick this up its extremely unique and super fun to run.
