I DMed this adventure with a group of four experienced players. I strongly advise the DM to pre-read and prepare for this module, as you need to understand the underlying story and background for it to really make sense. (This is not a pick up and play module - there are no "read this out loud" boxes and you do need to have a good sense of what each scene is about). That being said, if you do your prep work right, this module is great fun. It is much more inetresting to run if you include the bonus objectives. The tension on the beach with a rival group of cultists was a fun way to ramp up the atmosphere and engage the roleplayers. The bulk of the session was really just a mega combat - we printed out the map tot he right scale for our miniatures and this led to fun with players and enemies engaged in a multiroom longlasting mix of battling and trying to disable certain adverse magical tricks/traps. (Don't want to offer spoilers here). I also ramped up the fear of the wolf in the fresco - particularly when one little goblin party member went through the rift alone - I explained to the party that they could see their little friend, oblivious in the fresco, unaware of the wolf creeping up behind him... which meant that the party all panicked and lept straight through the rift too... I had to alter the story of the Eladrin to really make sense - the Eladrin did not seem to fit the rest of the story so I had to work out how to connect her with the wolf. I presented her much like an object of pity and horror, like a banshee drawing what little hope and life she could from the mosaic sun... Enjoyed this module, and will look at DMing others from the series.
