One of, if not the best purachase I ever made on this site. Monsters are well designed, art and tokens are wonderful! Not to mention having included battle maps and battle tactics pdf is nothing but a big plus! My only real complaint is not enough with low CR levels. Most of yokai in here seem more suited for boss/mini-boss fights, so it's a tad bit of a let down if you wanted a strictly yokai only campaign. Other then that, fantastic book! I just wish we were getting another.

Just... meh. The yokai are accurate enough and usale in a pinch, but they feel... uninspired? I will make my yokai from scratch anyway. Buy only if you don't have the time or experience for making your own. The tokens are nice though.

Really, really good content on almost every page. Very well laid-out, gave me tons of ideas for my campaign and i will definitely be utilizing these monsters. My only criticism is that the art could have been of higher quality.

I. Love. This. I've been using this for alot of encounters in my homebrew based loosely on the Sengoku period of japan. My players also have gotten an insane amount of fun out of the encounters with these yokai!

Art isn't bad but is the lower point of the entire compendium in regards to tokens for these beasties, but I can appreciate how alot of it is based off old japanese art of said yokai.

The stats are... interesting. I feel like a few of these were made with the idea that CR is kinda BS to use as a base and some of these Yokai can be absurdly deadly, but if players crave a challenge then this will definitely give it to them.

Also the accurate lore of the yokai which is a great quick reference for me when players ask about some of these creatures either IC or OOC. I knew alot about Kappas, but not much about Tengu which thankfully this helped fill that gap without me needing to go to google or youtube.

All in all, if you like Yokai as a whole just to throw in to your games or like me are basing your entire game around something like this it is more than worth what you pay for it.

This is a beautiful supplement that gives a lot of actually new content. By "actually" I mean mechanics and abilities are not just a reskin making breath weapon type 8. While I would like you to make a second part of this book, this one gives a LOT, and also gives a good base line for building your own epic encounters for every party level.

On second thought I would proabably want same quality content for some other cultures from this team. I love this book, and would recomend it to anyone who either wants a Oriental flavoured mosnters, or just want to get ideas of how to spice up their own homebrew.

The Yokai Compendium is the ultimate asian - themed monster codex. It's illustration and graphic design work is exceptional unlike any other we have seen so far in 5e delivering a unique experience to both DMs and players. Monsters, Stats and abilities are really smart and balanced to the point it introduces brand new playstyles to the game. I would totaly recommend it to those looking for something different in their sessions.

Truly a grotesque masterpiece. Each statblock is absolutely unique in terms of art, mechanics, everything. Almost every monster introduces a completely new mechanic to 5e. But the cherry on top were the battle tactics part. It's just so evocative and witty and let's you just pop a monster from the book, read a short paragraph and immediately get the gist of the statblock and how you should use it against your players. Amazing work truly a 5*

Great illustrations and it's clear a lot of work went into this. The strategy guide is especially useful for some of the less clear rules, but is useful even if you understand them so that encounters can be significantly more dynamic and interesting.

Very nice illustration, amazing work on statblocks... each statblock tells a story and it makes you immerse on their fluff and lore. The aesthetic and the reading prespective is a refreshing aspect of storytelling alone. Buy the product you wont regret it... Keep up the good work guys!!

With this product I'll be able to cause so much chaos in my games, it's gonna be wild driving my players insane with creatures they've never seen before, but will soon learn to fear!

Kudos to the creators! Original and well oriented content with a lot of thought going into it. The detail and the little things all around that help you and your players to get a proper feeling of what these monsters yokai demons are all about really makes a difference compared to most of the stuff I have seen here. The premium price is worth it all the way. I wish more creators took the time to consider things as much as they have been considered here. As a DM.
