This guide was well worth the asking price to alleviate some of the anxiety involved with preparing for session 1. I was worried that the campaign would clobber my players with enemies that they really shouldn't fight at level 1. The advice in this guide is just what I needed to make sure my players and I have a fun adventure.
The first two chapters of Rime of the Frostmaiden are meant to be an open world sandbox, with quests in chapter 1 ranging from level 1 to level 4. The issue is the players may unknowingly choose a very difficult quest right off the bat. Trull recommends a more level-appropriate scripted campaign path. He also gives advice on how to adjust the quests up or down in difficulty to match the character's current level. The guide also includes a bit more flavor for existing content. He gives additional bits of NPC dialog, area descriptions, and some fun (as in non-combat) magical items to discover.
