I was excited to pick this up because of the winter-themed modular encounters. I love the idea of a fishing contest, and wanted some ideas for ice cracking or a blizzard encounter since the book ones are meh. However this book presents a lot of mechanics and number crunching and less structure and flavor. If you enjoy mechanics, you would like this book. However, it's not as useful for me.

Now for pros:

• I do enjoy the backgrounds that this book provides though! If any of my PCs die, I'll present them as options for them.
• The magic items presented are great for inspiration. They're items I can see used in my campaign and fit the theme pretty well, along with cool effects.
