This fun little adventure is a sequel to Lost Laboratory of Kwalish and isn't actually tied in with Descent Into Avernus despite the title! What it is is a fun time travel adventure taking you to the construction of the Tomb of Horrors! A fun tie-in with multiple bits of D&D lore, and along with LLoK, one of the few original official 5E adventures that's default set in Greyhawk! (Still with advice for adapting to the Realms of course)

Me:

Primarlly a D&D Adventurers Leage DM since 2017. Most of my D&D is done online via Discord/Roll20 utilizing modules from DMsGuild, D&DBeyond, and most recently Roll20 all part of my Extra Life fundraising activities.

Good

I love the wierdness of the adventure, all the hirelings, and the magictech feel of this adventure. I truly appreciate this was used to help raise money for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

  • The art is great! Shout out to everyone involved in the beatiful layout and maps which were included.
  • I love that they included an Appendix for extra spells that can be used in non DDAL games
  • The magic items are definitely somethings players would love to get their hands on
  • Very useful adventure hooks, one in particular really worked well with a campaign idea where I linked this adventure, Dungeon of the Mad Mage, and Invasion from the Planet of Tarrasques.
Bad

I have no real complaints other than that I would have appreciated a battle map or two, but considering this is a charity module I can't be overly picky.

Overall

I have run this two times already and I can see myself running it and/or pulling from it given the opportunity. I liked running this as a DM and my players genuinely seemed to enjoy themselves, even when fortune didn't favor them  Great module!

This is the ultimate old school dungeon crawl, referencing the first edition DM's guide original map of the temple of Moloch and the Tomb of Horrors (TOH), if you want to visit some of he most iconic locations in D&D history this is for you, and all for a good cause. If like me you have been playing since 1st ed this is a trip down memory lane, but there is so much new to use it doesn't feel like a rehash. I have run the original TOH and various iterations since it came out, my current campaign for 5th ed is the Tomb of Annihilation, so this refernce back to TOH is a great fit for my campaign. The image from the original players handbook of the large red statue with its gem eyes being looted is the centre piece of the Temple of Moloch segment and I have a fantastic minature of that very statue so my players loved that. There are lots of bizzare magic creatures and paths crossing with several well known NPC's included here, I mixed these up a bit for my running of it to fit with my characters backstories, but there is lots to get your teeth into. whats great is the stat block for all the monsters is included with the adventure (i'm still calling them modules) which makes it easy to show characters illustrations and for easy ref. If you are a retro gamer or a newbie this will be fun to play.
