When Steve first reached out to me to do a review for PPPII, I got super interested cause I will admit I didn't know there was a first one - which now I need to invest in. So, what Puzzles, Predicaments, and Perplexities II offers - that all DMs should grab - is a bunch of new...well...puzzles, predicaments, and perplexities. I will admit, I stink at coming up with good puzzles for my D&D games, I have never been good at it and a lot of the time they really crash and burn. However, with this handy dandy book, I now have all the tools to truly stump my players and leave them confused for hours, and not just have them stream roll through my encounters. I think my favorite scenario from the book is Ride the Lightning - without going into too much detail, it is quite a shocking experience and is both comical and extremely deadly. Overall, this is a wonderful book with great layout and design, and for any DMs who enjoy taking their games to the next level, you should get a copy. Puzzles, Predicaments, and Perplexities II is a great collection of critical thinking challenges for all players. Most groups lean on two of D&D's pillars: combat, which the "game" is mostly based around, and roleplay, because pretending to be a character in a fantasy world is fun! This supplement is all about pillar #3, the critical thinking required for our fun-loving characters to survive the subtle dangers of fantasy land.

These 15 puzzles are laid out with clear descriptions and solutions, and they are categorized by perplexity rating from "Easy" (puzzles where all the pieces are presented, and the party needs to put them in order) to "Hard" (where complex analysis of multiple factors is required for the solution). While each puzzle is designed for Tier 1, they include tips for scaling to all levels! Knowing your group is crucial because some players (note: players, not characters) will certainly be able to solve particular puzzles easier than others, but the diversity of challenges in this supplement ensures that some can be plugged right into your game, and others can be fine-tuned for your group and story. Reading through, I already know which ones I would like to try in my game -- unfortunately, I’m finding it impossible to describe puzzles without potentially spoiling them!

With a professional layout and two adventures that string multiple puzzles together for you, Puzzles, Predicaments, and Perplexities II makes a great reference book for DMs who want to challenge their party in new ways!

There is so much goodness here. You get a good number of puzzles and they can be modified for your party. I could never come up with all this, so I am glad someone else did! A must-have for people who like a variety of playstyles. Great job guys!
