I ran this twice for Halloween remotely due to COVID-19, and it was a blast both times. It works well even if you can't get people together, and all the players enjoyed it immensely. One of them decided to pick it up so they could run it for friends as well. Big hit, and very enjoyable!

This was a lot of fun to play as player. I really liked it and will run it with my CoS group when we've finished the main adventure too

A fun, silly one shot that my players loved!!

Had some friends coming in from out of town and I'm a novice DM. Saw this advertized on twitter and thought what the heck? It sounded super fun and seemed like just the right length to not be tough to get through during an afternoon visit with friends. Everyone had a blast!! Though some references weren't obvious because we hadn't seen a movie in years, everyone was laughing the entire time, and they thought me amazing for the level of detail the module had. (The soundtrack was an amazing touch!)

Though I admitted I purchased this and it wasn't soemthing I came up with, they were all still impressed and left having had a great afternoon. We had no problems gettiing through the game and they even requested to run more of the 'events' that they had missed.

A great afternoon! Ty so much!!

I wasn't sure if I should give this a 3 or 4 star. 3.5 feels about right. It should be obvious this isn't a serious adventure from the cover/title. The adventure is stuffed with references of the 80s, but as we discovered the 80s were too big for any one adventure to fully cover. So you may find yourself interjecting your own references to fill in your favorites, which is part of the fun.
The adventure's strong points are the fun social scenario aspects spoofing something in the 80s; so long as the players are willing to play along. Be careful using existing characters as I found my players reluctant to act in the tongue-in-cheek nature of the adventure outside their character norm at first. Because the adventure expects characters to die several times and come back ,it also made potential combat feel pointless which I tried my best to avoid.
The 'story' is pretty weak, even with me upping the stakes at the start my players didn't really feel compelled to bring Strahd 'back'. If you didn't grow up in the 80s or at least are pretty familiar with the 80s you won't find much here. My one younger player seemed some what bored. Even myself growing up in the 80s a few of the references seemed more forced than funny, but that was the exception not the norm. The price seems to reflect the custom art of the adventure, however I wish it was made easier to share with the players (seperate files perhaps?) especially for online play.

This is a super fun 80's themed adventure that is perfect for a Halloween season one-shot. The adventure is easy to navigate and the links to the music and mosnters were helpful. We did all the extras in the game and the table had a blast and there was a lot of laughs. Definitely one of the funnest one-shots I have ran lately. I highly recommend this one!

This adventure is basically just "Hey! Remember the 80s??????!!!?!!?!?!??!" Lame jokes coupled with jokes only people who know who Chris Perkins is would understand.

Weekend at Strahd's is an AWESOME game. It takes the general premise of Curse of Strahd and turns it on its head, augmenting vampire brides with the Heathers, turning ghost children into Beetlejuice avatars, and making death something to be fought for, not against.

In Weekend at Strahd's, your party, having just killed the Vampire Lord Strahd, finds that you actually have save him by finding five objects known as the Pentaforce. To do so, you have to cart around Strahd's body to five different locations in his castle, battling Goonie-like characters, jazzercising your way to victory, and more. Along the way, you'll listen to a curated 80s playlist that really amps up the fun and potentially drink some nasty brew.

Weekend at Strahd's is incredibly clever and incredibly fun. Each location offers the characters multiple paths, including combat, diplomacy, and investigation, and there are fun mechanics for you to attempt and explore. You will have random encounters with 80s pop culture and can challenge your friends to reroll, add, or subject to get the outcome you want. I played this with a group, including a person who had never played DnD before, and they absolutely loved it. They always looked forward to what the song would be, and we used the New Koke brew to great fun. Perhaps my only criticism is that I'm not 100% sure the end makes sense. The initial premise is that you want to prevent the credits from rolling on your adventure, but, regardless of which conclusion you choose, you do roll credits. We also weren't entirely certain what the Pentaforce was, and that did cause some confusion. However, it didn't prevent us from fully enjoying ourselves.

If you'd like a fun, silly adventure with lots of great 80s callbacks and some truly creative encounters, I can't recommend Weekend at Strahd's enough. It's well worth the purchase and the play -- I'm honestly looking forward to playing it again!

A super fun, 80's romp through Castle Ravenloft, full of references from your favorite properties from the 80s, including The Breakfast Club, Ghostbusters, The Goonies, and so many more. Complete with a suggested playlist of companion music. A quick adventure perfect for old and new players alike.

As a returning DM, running for the first time in 5e after close to a decade of stepping away from the screen, it was quick and easily adopted, and first time players easily and quickly understood the premise of the game, as well as got caught up in the world built within this short module. Easily run in under 5 hours, even in a room full of people who have never played DnD before. Highly recommended as a cool-off one-shot or an introductory one-shot to players who have always talked about playing, but are always on the fence abut hopping into a truly high fantasy adventure.

Let me tell you a little story - as a young child, we did not have cable or internet. Instead we had the wide collection of DVDs and VCR tapes that my parents had amassed over the years: filled with 80s classics. Better Off Dead, Indiana Jones, Weekend at Bernies, and many others. When we got internet, we got the Netflix DVD service before they started doing streaming - and so I discovered the 80s Transformers cartoon. Needless to say, I love everything about the 80s: great music, great cartoons, terrible fashion, terrible cars, and awesome movies.

What Anthony and Oliver have done is combine two of the greatest minds on the Guild to create and bring an absolute masterpiece of slapstick, lampoonery, homage, and sheer hilarity to the table with Weekend at Strahd's. Mixing excellent comedy with fantastic roleplay, this fantastic questbook is filled with beautiful Easter eggs from across the decade and truly makes the players have so many double takes they will break their necks. And the thing I love most about Weekend At Strahd's is that it doesn't take itself too seriously but never falls into complete meme - it hovers right on the top of the pointy mountain. And that is why it recieves the Comics, Clerics, & Controllers Golden d20 Badge.

I was born at the end of the 1980s. I was only alive for 1 year of the decade, but that doesn't mean I don't love and appreciate the raditude of the era. From big hair to Back to the Future the 80s is a decade we look back on with much fondness, even if we weren't alive during the magic. And if I wanted to capture the pure essence of the 1980s aesthetic and play it in a D&D module I'd run "Weekend at Strahd's".

This one shot adventure that promises 1-2 hours of wicked play is a very tongue in cheek module with so many pop culture references your head will spin. As a DM you get to lead players down a garden path and see if they figure out just which popular 80s flick they've wandered into. And with added links to music tracks on Spotify you're sure to be the most tubular DM in town when the needle drops on each music cue.

Not only are the pop culture references totally bodacious but Anthony Joyce and Oliver Clegg know how to write great encounters. Each area you trave l to in Strahd's castle as you puppet his lifeless, animated corpse is different and full of radical caricatures of popular 80s celebs (as well as a couple D&D cameos), and unique situations that your party will have to really think about in order to collect the pieces of the Pentaforce to finally destroy Strahd. The illustrations throughout are hilarious and the graphic design is incredible and perfectly captures a mall food court from the time period.

“Weekend at Strahd’s” would be a perfect way to continue your grizzly and macabre “Curse of Strahd” campaign to keep the party going with just one more adventure or it would make a great Halloween party one shot to play while dressed up as 80s characters while you eat too much candy. However you see fit, this module is a great addition to any DMs library and I highly recommend picking it up, even just to read, unless you want a valley girl to say you’re grody to the max!

PS: Where’s the beef?
