I had a great time running this adventure, though I was true to form and took 50% more time to do so than recommended. The hook is straightforward and I liked how the NPCs were easy to tell apart. The inn/barn section is the standout, with clear objectives and suspenseful complications. The final part, that utilizes all of the NPCs, is a mystery, and I always struggle to run mysteries in D&D; I'm also hampered by not knowing what the NPCs will do in future adventures this season, though I tried to skim the next three which helped a bit. My party had a good time and we look forward to our next opportunity for this storyline.

Great intro module to season 9. Elturel goes poof and you need to get refugees to Bauldur's Gate. The adventure is simple and scales well. The last encounter could use more npcs instead of one enemy. Also the info dump at the end about the bbeg is something your players characters would not know unless they were at the murder so it's kinda hard to explain. Also Segren is a main character, but he has a good chance of getting killed so it may make the other modules awkward. Other than that it is a good way to start season 9.

I ran part 1 and part 3 for a two hour DDAL session. We had five 1st level players. Everything one would need to run the adventure is in the document.

The part 1 battle was a good warm up to the part 3 battle. I let them take a short rest in between while travelling on the road to Baldur's Gate.

The barn complications table was fun. And our goliath fighter kept getting knocked over by horses and NPCs!

A good adventure to get players to level 2 for Descent into Avernus.
