The hook is pretty interesting. As adventurers, you're tasked to investigate the water supply of the town of Phlan and how it's turning to sludge. As soon as you embark on your way, the landscape and the trees and buildings are all full of sludge. There's also some neat things that happen to the adventurers/their gear when they enter, but I won't spoil too much.

The bonus objectives are one of my favorites, especially if the players get attached to the NPCs. The first one throws in an interesting monster and can either be run by the DM as a tragedy or some light hearted antics, though I myself felt bad for the NPC. Either way, the next bonus objective involves a really fat dragon that needs the players to get her some more food. It's very funny and I think the DM and the players would enjoy RP-ing this out. This also leads into what I think is the highlight if you're up for more crude humour. Without spoiling too much, the players have the option of seducing a monster and depending on the outcome, it'll be combat or a night of.... interesting events, to say the least.

And then there's the final location, the Mansion. It's got a lot of neat interactables and a sizable number of fun traps, one of which gives you a neat character effect! There's also something that helps the players in the final combat if they're willing to do certain things, and over all the vibe is very eerie in this strange mansion. And the NPC they're here to see, depending on the DM, can be quite the kooky character to break the tension, or someone eerie and scary to lean into the horror.

Finally there's the final encounter! It's a very interesting encounter with multiple ways of solving and defeating the monsters. Aside from that, the lair has some interesting features and I feel you're players are going to be on the edge of their seat the whole time in this fight!

It's got lots of flavor and has the three pillars in spades. It's definitely got lots of locations with things the players can mess with for exploration, it's got some real colorful NPCs, both for the dark tone and also lighthearted ones for contrast. And the combats have fun enemies and other mechanics for the DM to use, especially in the final fight. Over all I'd recommend this module for anyone who wants an interesting mod to entertain their players, all while not being filled with too many complicated things so it's easy for a beginner DM to run.
