Adventure Sidekicks: Storm King's Thunder
Publisher: Dungeon Masters Guild
by Cameron D. [Verified Purchaser]

If none of you have one by now, you REALLY need to invest in the Adventure Sidekick series, like come on. Get with the program people! SKT is probably one of my favorite hardcovers because of the gigantic - heh, see what I did there - scale of it all, and to have that, you gotta have some good sidekicks, brah. With Adam's fantastic writing and Rose's equally stellar art, this book chocks up there some more amazing sidekicks for you to pick from when you dive into the mystery of Storm King's Thunder. Pick Morak, he is best grump boi. Comics, Clerics, & Controllers d20 Roll: Nat 20

Thanks, Cameron! I just wanted to point out that the writing was done by a talented team composed of Olobosk, C. M. Millar, and Paul Metzger. I was just the lowly producer. So glad you enjoyed it!

Who likes heists? Do you like heists? Do YOU like heists? Do you? Do you? CAUSE I KNOW I DOOOOOO! What Jimmy has here is an awesome collection of wee side quests you could easily sling into any game no matter what - and they all vary in genre, which is super fun. Honestly, these brim with pulp adventure of the likes you find in Goonies, The Princess Bride, or The Mask of Zorro - and I love that. Need you some heisty-deliciousness: look no further! Monsters of Murka Campaign Setting (5e)
Publisher: Action Fiction
by Cameron D. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 04/20/2020 13:20:19

This is a book I have been super excited for for a long time, as I first started following it back when it kickstarted. Monsters of Murka Campaign Setting is a fantastic spooftacular parody and homage to everything that is quintissentially American. This book is chock full of references, teases, and reflections of everything that American culture is lampooned and charicatured for: the Diplomizer, Birdie Sanders, the Crimson Hick background, the Action Hero Martial Archetype - it is ALL SO GOOOOOOOOD! I cannot stress how hilarious, thought provoking, and unique this setting is - cause you could easily play a very serious or very farsical game of D&D in this world. I am happy to present this book with the Comics, Clerics, & Controllers Golden d20 Badge for both being a beautifully fleshed out setting with amazing art, and a powerful social commentary on the United States.

Legendary Bestiary: Expanded
Publisher: Dungeon Masters Guild
by Cameron D. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 04/20/2020 12:51:48

This book does something great in that - like its fellow - adds a collection of new moves, abilities, and actions that monsters can take. Everyone has that friend who can just read any D&D book and remember everything about a monster and then makes it no fun for anyone. What we have here is a collection of goodies to beef up your bestiary. I especially like some of the abilities that the duergar get, as I do love me my little depressed dwarves. And, additionally, it is all organized based on hardcover (alphabetically I might add) and then by CR rating, making this honestly one of the best laid-out books I have seen in a long time on the Guild. Kudos to the team behind Legendary Bestiary: Expanded who made an awesome addition to anyone's library. Comics, Clerics, & Controllers d20 Roll: Nat 20

For the Family | Criminal Supplement
Publisher: Dungeon Masters Guild
by Cameron D. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 04/08/2020 09:15:56

Very rarely do I come across a book so rooted in the roleplay aspect of the game that I love that it is a shock when I find one. For the Family gives you not only whole new mechanics for building crime families and organizations in D&D, but even class options specifically devoted to your criminal family. Four options for the Fighter, Warlock, Monk, and Paladin - along with NPCs to seed your turf with. On top of that, two new backgrounds which attach to the Criminal background in the PHB, and a whole set of pages for building and creating your personal crime family. Overall, there is a lot crammed into 18 pages right here, and it is a stellar work. Comics, Clerics, & Controllers d20 Roll: Nat 20

Demons in the Prairie
Publisher: Dungeon Masters Guild
by Cameron D. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 04/08/2020 09:11:56

Demons in the Prairie, on top of being an introductory adventure to D&D - which is something Marco is great at doing - adds elements of western frontier justice with anti-hero gray morality, and I love that. This is an adventure that not only offers players their first taste of a great game, but immediatly roots them in the morass between right and wrong, or the little choices that make people mortal beings. Light on details and open to interpretation. I think that Demons in the Prairie is probably one of Marco's best work, and for that I am proud to give him the Comics, Clerics, & Controllers Golden d20 Badge for this book.

I will give you my review in one sentence: Marco took something as simple as a trinket you can get at first level, and built a mischevious little warlock patron all around it with odes to Celtic stories and legends, all for a good time and laughs all around. I really really really love this adventure that Marco has put together, from the themes to the story to the challenges presented. It oozes with swashbuckling heist energy, and as if that wasn't enough - you also get to play in Eberron, which is always a plus. Marco does this beautiful thing with his adventures where he has a flow chart in the beginning of how the adventure will move in its various acts, and I love it. Overall, this is a great adventure to both get your players into Eberron, but also to try something a little more high stakes for low level players. Comics, Clerics, & Controllers d20 Roll: Nat 20

This is a simple, beautiful and easy adventure to run for DMs, but it is the elements and flavors of fae/fairy tales that radiate from this adventure that I love so so much. Marco does a wonderful job making this a welcoming adventure for newcomers to the hobby. You feel the stakes as you go through the tale of the corruption of Darkroot Forest and the town of Faeriewell, and it also provides an awesome little base of operations if you chose to integrate Faeriewell into more of your games! A wonderful adventure by a wonderful fellow! Comics, Clerics, & Controllers d20 Roll: Nat 20

If there is something I love more than magic items, it is goofy and silly magic items. This little gem that Marco has put together is full of hilarity and light hearted fantasy fun. 54 pages of crazy magic items, all listed and explained in detail - which is always helpful. I have too many favorites to list all of them, but one of them is the Arcane Fish: mystical magical goldfish for the win! At the end of the day, the layout is simple and easy to follow, and it is just a fun book. Make sure to go snag it! Comics, Clerics, & Controllers d20 Roll: Nat 20

King of the Road
Publisher: Dungeon Masters Guild
by Cameron D. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 04/08/2020 08:37:18

This is a fantastic book that seems to add elements from animes like Goblin Slayer or Shield Hero as well as video games like Borderlands with their Badass Ranks to create some friendly side achievements you can collect as you are playing. Almost think of it as a check list for your class as your cover a gambit of point-gains; from the stereotypical to the actually challenging. This should be in anyone's library for a game, as often times you can feel the fatigue of long sessions in cities between quests or for filler time drain you as players and DMs, so it adds new energy to the game. And for that, I am pleased to give King of the Road a Comics, Clerics, & Controllers Golden d20 Badge.

This is so much more than just an easy rescue mission adventure, it is more than get the girl and bring her back for the monies, it is more than murder-hobos-r-us. Rob has crafted a truly unique and actually very challenging adventure rooted in the actual human mental condition, and how our minds can be our greatest enemies. While the players might start out believing you have got your basic "Damsel in Distress" model, before it evolves into so so much more. If you really want to challnege your players and throw them for a loop that will leave them thinking at the end of the day - this is the quest to do it with. Again - I am no expert on the Cypher System, I will be up front with that in that I can't fully attest to how mechanically balanced this is. But, what I can say is this: Mortal Fantasy explores the various tropes and different types of fantasy within the umbrella genre in the eyes of the Gods of the Fall world which offers demigods with the power-levels of Shonen characters and the edginess of Dark Souls bosses. The flavor and art pours out of this thing, and I already want to learn more about Cypher so I can use this book and play it! So, if you are looking for something really differet for your Cypher game - check out Mortal Fantasy. Comics, Clerics, & Controllers d20 Roll: 18

You get a lot of things in a small package like this book, and I love that. A microsetting, a ton of little side quests you can do in the city, and the whole adventure to kaboot. It offers a great setting on top of a well balanced and well organized adventure, and it really feels like an old-school adventure book you would pick up at a grungy little nook-in-the-wall game store back in the 80s, which at times leaves it a tad bland and not visual appealing enough for my taste. But, want to feel like proud heroes defending a city from the horror of elemental chaos in a place that actually matters? Then look no further! Comics, Clerics & Controllers d20 Roll: 16

So, anyone who knows me knows I love warlocks - I LOVE THEM! So so much! And what Eugene has got here is something that just explodes with the right mix of Warhammer 40k, Dishonored and gore to make it something that anyone who really wants to get CHAOTIC with a capital everything should 100% snag. Excellent art, a super badass collection of magic items and new warlock options, and some NPCs to sling into a game. My only beef is that I think it needs a bit more to warrant the $4.95 price tag - maybe some more warlock options like evocations or pacts - but otherwise, I think the art and professional looking layout makes it visually worth that 100%.
