I have commissioned art from Adela's for all of my projects here on the guild to date. Her art is amazing as ever and this has a wonderful selection of character art! I can not reccomend it more.

Savage Tokusatsu: Kaiju, Mechs, and Heroes for Savage Worlds

This is a fantastic book for lovers of Power Rangers, to Sailor Moon, to Godzilla. It has great cartoony artwork in a layout that is both easy to read and look at and not obtrusive. Its additions, mechanics, and everything else are all wonderfully done and include everything you would need to plug and play and have a Sentai game going for a one short or short campaign in little to no time!

This Tunnel Tussle may tussle my players, but I can’t help but feel I tussled the author with it only being a buck! I still don’t know how they fit so much content on a single page.

Rare Kenku Subraces
Publisher: Dungeon Masters Guild

Before I start my review, I need to say that I received this product for free as a review copy with the express intent to review it.

-The subraces

The biggest thing that stands out as odd to me about this group of subraces is that it is designed as if it were for pathfinder, with abilities that can be optioned to replace existing ones, instead of adding. I'm not saying this is bad, just that it is an odd choice.

While each of the subraces are interesting and bring something to the table, from reading the abilities, besides some small details I have a hard time seeing what the real difference is between the subraces and the core, they feel like slight variations upon the theme, and not actual branches of a tree that are their own thing.

If you can get past the pathfinder styled character creation, there are a lot of options for variety within these subraces which some people may find very freeing and open a lot of possibilities that don’t keep them pigeonholed like some races can do.

-The Backgrounds

There are four backgrounds within this product as well and personally, I find them much more interesting and flavorful then the subraces themselves. The cliff diver in particular has a lot of flavor opportunity for interesting characters.

I do find it to be a bit too strong for a couple of backgrounds to offer roguish expertise to animal handling. While this can be a very rare and underused skill, offering expertise for free as a background is very strong.

The features for these are all standard fare except for the Weeper, which has a feature that I personally find very interesting and great for character development and roleplay, something a lot of backgrounds don’t really offer often.

Lastly as far as the included content goes, I want to talk about the Falconer background and Falconer's kit. It is a great concept, and there was a lot of research and work done into the kit, which is fantastic. The only problem I find with this is that there are no real mechanics to support it. You don’t get or have a bird with this background meaning that most of the things included you can’t make use of, and would really require a caster with find familiar, or a ranger to use properly.

Finally, the art included is nicely done, it shows off exactly what it needs to, and even shows examples of backgrounds and subraces being mixed, such as the vulture horseman or cardinal falconer.

Thanks for the review Steven W. One of the difficulties with creating this was that I do not have permission to reprint the original Kenku stats from the Volo's Guide, and since there are no original subraces for Kenkus, each Subrace's abilities had to be written as substitutions for the original Kenku. I should have made that clearer in the intro and may edit that soon to reflect that. I also see that I should have added that trained birds could be purchased as equipment (and listed some examples). I will need to make an edit for that as well soon so there is support for the tools.

This adventure is fantastic, I loved almost every minute of planning and running it. The NPCs are interesting, the plot is fantastic, throwing its twist at the player after giving them two red herrings to deal with ahead of time. I cant wait to run it again.

I will give two criticisms, and they are both for the same thing. Maps. The dungeon's map is fantastic, but if Pisca gets the crown and you have to fight her outside of the dungeon, you are SOL for a map. The only real improvement I could see for this adventure is a map of the village that can be used for players for both exploration and a final encounter.
