Ran this one-shot a few weeks ago for a birthday party. The group was half previous players and half newbies. I think this adventure was a perfect intro for the new players, but also gave the more experienced players opportunities to use their skills.
Pros:
- The 10 included characters are really helpful for one-shots. There was enough variety that everyone felt like they had good options and they were pretty fleshed out
- I really liked the "3 challenges" format. It was a great mix of combat, RP, and a bit of out of the box thinking
- Lots of good resources in the text for helping keep players on track
Cons:
- I personally didn't like the "final fight" to just be against the pixies and not something bigger. I added in a final "boss" that was using the pixies to do their bidding and get the characters to the feast.
- The 2nd challenge (the music box) was a bit easy as one player ran in and grabbed it and took a few damage and they moved on. Could have just been my group
Ultimately this was a fun one to create a good world for a DM and players to expand their creativity. I would recommend this for new DMs as well as it has a lot of great notes and the prepped characters were really helpful.
