This is exactly the resource for which I was searching in order to bring an added element to my campaigns. In addition to the obvious elements of crafting, and a way for PC's to spend gold, and offering an opportunity to further tailor characters by way of magical items, there is the fantastic element of role-play with not just Hamund as an NPC, but his assosciates at well. The addition of skill checks for the harvesting itself leads to some more coopertaive play among the players. It has also led to the players describing their combat as they are trying to make sure their strikes aren't damaging potential compnents in a possible powerful magical item, and adjustments to the combta rolls as well. As a DM, I find it entertaining to watch a player struggle with the choice to swing with abandon and presere the life of their companion or swing tactically and preserve the component they need and possibly lose a party member.

Exactly what I wanted, an in-depth resource that provides details and interesting reasons to incorporate harvesting and crafting of monster parts into my game. Has already given me great inspiration in my worldbuilding to include many of the items and craftable effects in key areas, showcasing the usefullness of magical creatures and their remains in a dangerous world. Would reccommend if your players are interested anything from a witcher-style monster hunting campagin to pursuing the posibilities of crafting magic items in a more rewarding and narratively driven way than the simple rules provided in the DMG or XGtE. Who doesnt want to make an awesome sword forged from the teeth of their first dragon?

Only reccomendation to the creator would be a good pass over it again for spelling issues and other things like that. Ex: Dragon Wand required materials being "Young dragon..." repeated rather than, "young....adult...ancient" etc. Doing that or having someone go over and line edit it would take it up another notch closer to professional quality. Nicely done.

I had this and Volume 2 recommended to me by a fellow DM and I'm so pleased about it. Brilliant options to include in the game, love it.

easy to read so interesting i love just love it the rules are easy to follow and i love items possiblites and harvesting just seems way mroe fun now

both books are just beyond useful enough said it makes things way more interesting to give players something if they remember to carve .

I am very happy with the product i got. all my players now always want to know what does the monster drop because they can usually sell it for a decent price so its their currency source at the moment. thank you greatly

If you have players who like crafting/hunting/love treasure this book is perfect for you. Great attention to detail but easy to integrate. Would help make any campaign more fun and add depth to the world.

Fantastic resource for making all sorts of interesting things out of all the beasts your players are going to be killing anyway. No longer will they kill a monster only to be disappointed when it isn't carrying a whole bunch of loot, because it becomes the loot!

This is a great supplement to the D&D game. Finally allows for players to harvest and utilize materials from the great beasties they battle.

I really like this book and my players are really having fun with it too. The only thing really keeping it from getting 5 stars is there are so many spelling issues and issues I can see that were just copy and pasted and not edited from other monsters. I really hope the next volume has someone go over and edit and correct it better than this one.

Highly recommended. It's very well-organized, and has great verisimilitude. With most magic item compendiums I have a hard time figuring out how to put them into context, as opposed to just random magic items lying about for no apparent reason. With the items in this handbook, they actually acquire the materials and craft the item themselves, and so there is a greater sense of accomplishment and pride in those items. It's well-organized in the sense that higher CRs tend to have more potent yields, more potent yields have higher harvest DCs, and both correspond to higher rarity items. So there is a natural gating mechanism as far as the so-called "balance" of items, where they're all in the right ballpark. (You might need to adjust a few things here and there.)

As soon as i saw this i knew i had to have it, the monk in my party is constantly asking me after combat if he can harvest a creature or if there are any useful herbs or plants he can get his hands on, last session he actually came across a tome of harvesting and tanning so its perfect timing as well..

I'm in love with this adendum!!! My mind is immediately going to how to center a campaign around this, working for crafter's guilds around the city. No buyer's remorse, 10/10 will reccomend to friends.

Wonderful detail, excellent rules, and delightful craftable items. Will definitely be incorporating this into my campaign.
