I bought this as the complete DM's Bundle and very disappointed. Firstly printer friendly versions for every cover, secondly I was hoping that this material would give something extra but the material just states what I think is obvious if you just read the book. No additional lore the NPC interactions are so linear and very simple the Maps which are described as high quality are really poor. And I’m not going to use any of them

I do like the additional modules Kraken’s Gamble & Flying Misfortune and will be using this in my campaign but wish I had only bought these two.

Notice: If you're a novice DM or have almost no time to prep a published adventure, bump this review up to 4/5 stars because it will definitely help you out. If you're a veteran DM or have time enough to plan out an already written campaign, I feel that 3/5 is more accurate to what you might get out of this bundle. (I do want to support independent TTRPG creators, so I felt this was important to note at the top of the review)

I'm strongly of two minds about this product but I want to be honest about my thoughts:

The bad first: It is awfully generous to call these maps 'high quality' and I was very disappointed once I looked through them all. I can't even really justify that most of them would save me time since even I can doodle out an empty field with a few dark circles for trees on a grid. Some are better than others, the Ascore map is quite nice but the vast majority are wide open spaces with barely any detail. Sure, the campaign calls for those in a few points but it's hard to justify paying for, example a 50x50 grid map with 8 trees and a straight vertical wall. I'm not trying to be mean, mind you but I do not feel that the advertisement of "high quality maps" is at all honest.

At their worst, the resources make me wonder why I would ever need to buy a guide that provides either a very simplistic and straight-forward character interaction ("The beauty, the beast & the drunk" is a particular example), or a rather pointless side quest ("Yeti Coats"), and the Great Upheaval resource adds very little of anything not provided in the actual campaign.

Now, for the good! The newly added adventures are great additions to the campaign. The heist scenario in "The Flying Misfortune" is a much needed change of pace and I'm a big fan of focusing more on Felgolos. Likewise the "Kraken's Gamble" introduces one of the campaign's primary antagonists prior to the end game which is another excellent addition and also shakes up Chapters 3 and 4.

Changing the puzzle in "The Chosen Path" was a great idea and while I previously griped about some of the content in the guides, on the whole, they do save me time and that is always appreciated. Also, I can't ignore that the price I purchased it at $12.95 is more than reasonable and helped bump the overall rating for me.

So I find myself looking at a product with a lot of good and a lot of bad but it balances out to more than serviceable, I feel.

If fleshes out the module nicely, but also makes some good points about SKT's weaknesses and how to tweak them to make the whole story better. Well worth the cost if you plan to run SKT, especially for folks like me with a full time job, wife & 3 kids (who I'm taking through SKT), and barely any energy to spare for campaign prep.

Highly recommend for anyone running this campaign. Storm King's Thunder is a wide-open sandbox, and this bundle has lots of great ideas to guide you--particularly if you're a new DM. The adventures here really help connect dots to the overarching story as players roam around the entire region in chapter 3, and the modules for other chapters really flesh out what's going on.

The maps are simple but clear and add some much needed depth to the large scale battles in CH.2. The suggested edits to the various CHs like timing of events and added quest hooks to get the PCs invested in each town are also simple but so important for the overall story and for the PCs to care about the world. Overall really great. It is what it claims to be and i can't ask for much more than that.

Storm kings thunder suffers like most of the other books with its lack of maps and certain details. This bundle helps out so much with the maps ideas and other parets to get you though the tough times.

This was the first one that was put together and it is slightly rough around the edges but its ok its not enough to justify not getting it.

If you are planning on runnigh SKT then i would suggest getting this as the information and maps contained will make life so much easier for you from a dm's perspective.

Two years ago I went from being a new player, to being a new DM. Since all of my nerdy friends lived in Narnia (far away in other states), we decided we would begin out journey using Fantasy Grounds and discord voice/video. While I adore Fantasy Grounds, despite the learning curve, something about the Storm Kings Thunder story, PDF, and adventure leaves a lot to be desired occasionally. The adventure is great, but navigating it as a first timer was difficult. I was, and am constantly on the look out for advice and better resources made by those more experienced that can help me make SKT a memorable campaign while making it a little easier on myself.

This complete DM's Bundle is, and was, exactly what I have been looking for. Formerly awkward encounters have been broken down into easier, more managable chunks. Suggestions on how to interconnect story/plot to make more sense, extra battle and area maps that aren't included in the original module / or as detailed. A lot of the things that made it difficult for me as a new DM to try and tie together made much more sense thanks to this bundle and I highly recommend this if a) you are new to Storm Kings Thunder b) a new DM to it, and heck, maybe even if you are a decades-long DM but want a fresh take on a frequently run campaign. I highly recommend. Thank you so much for this. (And sorry it took me so long to get a review out.)

Lots of helpful information that makes running this adventure a lot smoother. I would recommend it every DM running this module. The only change I would want is updated PDFs that are selectable. Some of the PDFs are selectable, but not all are, including the one I needed the most. Besides that, overall a great product.

This bundle made the beast that is Chapter 3 much more manageable. The Amphail pack was particularly wonderful as one of my players had a personal quest that took the party there. So many pies!

Also, the Grudd Haug breakdown and suggestions made it one of the highlights of the adventure.

If you are running SKT for the first time, this is a must-buy in my opinion.

In terms of actual content, there are some very good pieces here. All the Chapter 2 additions are must-haves. I ran Bryn Shander by-the-book for one group, but ran Triboar through this bundle for another, and it was much better experience than what the book lays out. I wish I could go back and run Bryn Shander properly!

The side-quests, like Amphail and Kraken's Gamble are also nice, simple additions, well worth the price.

The only negatives would be production quality. The look, formating, and editing of the documents is not up to par compared to other offerings on DMs Guild. I think every document has a paragraph that starts with "Okay...", which was really weird. The maps are also not great, but you can work around that.

Overall, great stuff, and glad to have content like this on DMs Guild.

Hi Alan! Thanks so much for your review. I am really happy you got some good play out of the content. I couldn't agree more with you about formatting and editing. This product was our first DM's resources, and we have certainly improved on both these parameters since then. In comparison with newer offerings, such as our resources for BG:DIA or WD:DH, it's quite obvious that we didn't have the same skills and resources when we made these DM's resources. Regardless, I'm glad you did enjoy them, and appreciate your honest and constructive criticism :) All the best! J. A. Valeur Eventyr Games

As a follow-up to Nathaniel S. review: It is clearly indicated above what products (=chapters) are included in the bundle. Yes, it does not cover all SKT chapters (covered are chapters 1-5 and 12; for chapter 3 it provides two nice sidequest). However, it focuses on several problematic parts which many DMs might strugle with. And it provides ideas how to deal with them and how elaborate them further with more detail. I especially appriciated all the ideas provided for the Chapter 2: Rumblings (all three locations). There is a partial overlap between the products (the map pack includes map of the other products), but this is just a minor thing. Maps are maybe not a "high art", but they are good enough. I liked them and used them in Roll20. They did their job nicely.

If you are interested to know more about the products, I recomment to click solo on each of the products, look at their previews and reviews. This will you give you a very good picture what you are buying.

I recommend this bundle.

This bundle is a must-have for any DM running Storm King's Thunder. The adventure as written is very open ended and vague at some important parts (like the giant attacks in chapter 2, or any specific town in chapter 3), and it does a very poor job of foreshadowing some big players that otherwise don't show up until chapters 10-12. The supplements in this bundle help tremendously with these problems. On top of that, it balances and simplifies some other chapters in the adventure. The battle maps are a great addition, too, for any DM that uses Roll 20 or minis on a grid.

Don't just take my word for it, either. Go read all the great reviews on any specific item in this bundle!

The content in this bundle is a steal at $11.99. To the creators: Thank you for your thoughtful and thorough additions to my DM arsenal!

Buying a 12$ complete DM bundle i was expecting a thorough guide for listed chapters of the campgin, but it only focuses on a few sections, half of the bundle is for chapter two, of which you will really only use one (Triboar, Goldenfields, or Bryn). The maps look like they were scribbled in MS paint, I wont be using them. I wasnt really sure what i was buying, but figured at this cost it was going to be a gigantic asset. Having now seen the content, I would recommend buying 1 of the guides for chapter 2, triboar, goldenfields or Bryn, but nothing else. Certainly purchase maps elsewhere. Would return the package and buy Triboar only if I could. I was really hoping it would help flesh out chapter 3, but no such luck.

Hi Nathaniel! I think your criticism is bit harsh, but I respect your opinion. I think it's made clear which chapters the guide covers in the description of the product. I'm not sure you've seen, but there's also two new adventures included – the Flying Misfortune and Kraken's Gamble – which can be used at any point during the campaign. As for the maps, I hope that's a difference of taste, since I know that many people have found good use for them, including ourselves in our campaigns. Regardless, there's little that bothers me more than leaving a customer dissatisfied. I'm not sure I can give you a refund through DM's Guild, but send me an email at valeurrpg@gmail.com and I'll see if we can't figure something out :)
