A pretty well constructed adventure, but the spelling and grammar can leave a little to be desired...

Recently got back into D&D after a couple decades of being away. Still learning the ins and outs of 5E (as I was playing 2E last time) and with a newly formed group. I ran this as a stand alone adventure for 4 players and it was great. It was easily adaptable into the Ravenloft setting we are currently running with the current DM. The others enjoyed it as well and it felt good getting back behind the DM screen.

To a fellow DM - thanks for the review. Always glad to see someone enjoying the adventure. Good idea adapting to Ravenloft! Hope it wasn't too hard to do loI ... I really wanted to keep this one open ended so anyone can make it anywhere they like for their own needs. Happy gaming!

I used this as an in-between adventure for my party and they really loved it! I changed the ending (they are about to face some more tragedy, so I figured I'd let them save the day for now), as well as cut down on some of the combat as they are a roleplay heavy group and aren't super skilled at fighting yet. We all loved the pacing, action, and level of creepiness. One thing I would add is some actual time in the town so the stakes feel higher for the characters. However, I liked that it was open ended in that respect, as I was able to incorporate this story into a town I had already created. I guess it depends on the DM. Either way, fantastic story, thanks for writing it!

Thanks for reviewing the adventure, all feedback is welcome! As i have said in all of my adventures you as the DM get full control over any aspect, if you see something you think you can improve then GO FOR IT! My words are by no means gospel so let your imagination run wild with it. My following adventures are a bit more fleshed out and so will help with the story based role playing characters. Anyay super glad you and your group enjoyed the adventure :D

Great module. It is one of the (fairly) rare modules that gives you a clear road map without being a straitjacket. It is a good way to introduce older edition players into the new ruleset, or introduce new players to the game, or even just start fresh with new characters! Very well written, easy to follow while still giving players a challenge, whether they are murder hobos or thinkers. I also liked the fact that it left a lot of things open so that the DM could put this anywhere. You put it where you want it and lead the characters there your way instead of having to work around things that do not fit into your campaign setting. We already bought part 2 (running it soon) and are planning on buying part 3. I am going to keep this module handy for introducing new players to the game.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, I am so thrilled you and your group enjoyed the adventure and it hadn’t even occoured to me one could use it as a means to introduce older ers into 5e so again thank you for making fellow players aware of this. I sincerely hope you enjoy part 2 as much and part 3 is in the pipeline just now (its going to be much more substantial as the grand finale winds the series down). Happy gaming.

A very nice short adventure for low level characters. I really liked the overal impression of the adventure featuring very interesting encounters that are far from boring standard fights. I really love the cliffhanger ending and will likely get the sequel depending on the final rating of my players. Minor issues for me that kept it from getting 5 stars.- the intro/hook needs to be fleshed out for your party, the village could use some description details. The railroaded use of the incantation to pass an obstacle. I would recommend changing it from required to making an otherwise difficult encounter easy to pass. Finally I will most likely add a few NPC is the village for the party to interact with before starting the adventure proper to make the ending more dramatic.

Thanks for the review, appreciate the critisism and will take on board for the final part of the series. I wanted to keep the hook loose so DM's could incorporate it into any current adventure they were running but yes in retrospect as a starting point it might have been better to have a jumping off point for the adventure. The incantation was more of a puzzle element I wanted to try out and is to get new players to think more laterally about how to move around an obstacle that and I didn't want any nimble rouges vaulting past the wall guards immediately after entering the cave ;). But like I said - thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed the encounters.

This was a good quick adventure that can either start a campaign or begin a new segment for an already existing adventure. For new players and returning ones, the Rise of The Necromancer is a fun adventure to get things started. I played this with a group of three and my players loved it.
