Best module I've ran in a while!!

The introduction ("Sharn Chicken") is the best set piece for character introduction of any module hands down.

The rest of the module is great, and sows the seeds of Eberron plotlines that are easy to continue with the rest of the Converge Manifesto series and/or other material in/around Sharn.

I recommend following this with "Forgotten Relics" from "Rising from the Last War", since both cover Sharn, warforged and the Daask criminal syndicate - it makes a good 2 part series.

I ran this one exactly as written.

I really enjoyed this adventure, and so did my players. I felt like the encounters allowed a great deal of creativity on the part of the players, while still providing a lot of helpful structure to a new DM. The Sharn Chicken scene was fantastic, and the fight with the forge had my players very concerned and engaged.

Overall: Good adventure with a few hiccups, mostly suffering from 5th Edition's fragility at level 1. While it is linear, the story it presents is fun, frenetic, and certainly makes players feel like heroes in a huge world - all hallmarks of the setting of Eberron.

What I liked: REALLY liked the falling complications, but I think it would have been more interesting if it was used more (i.e. if there were more chances to roll on that table). As it was, I got one PC to roll on it a second time, but it really needed more of a spotlight I think.

Yadha-Ro was a big hit. She's a GREAT character, and she did a really good job of frightening the players while in the end also making them feel very successful and heroic for fending her off.

The players pretty quickly picked up to the rivalry of the Deathsgate Guild and I think that's definitely a fun thing to draw on going into the future.

What I didn't like: Honestly, a lot of the "I didn't like this" boils down to being level 1. Even starting at level 2 would have helped a lot of things in my opinion, most of all the initial falling scene: the players managed to knock out all 3 of the Deathsgate recruits halfway through round 2, even with one PC not really engaging in the fight. If the Deathsgate PCs were level 2 to match (obviously, they didn't have stats, but I just assumed level 1 HP), they would have survived to round 3 at least.

Drummond is an unsympathetic character and there's a pretty huge bias towards the Warforged side of things in the conflict. Overall I think that's not a huge problem as the PCs are part of the Clifftop Guild, but I do think it could have been interesting/expanded upon for the PCs to assist Drummond and not make the Warforged side of things feel so much like the "correct path." There's this strange thing with choice-laden video games sometimes where you might metagame because the rewards on one path are so much better than the rewards on the other, even if you REALLY wanted to RP the not-so-squeaky-clean guy - and I think this kind of problem rears its head a bit with regards to the Warforged picket.

Tresca's ritual was very unsatisfying imo, particularly how rounds 1 and 2 don't actually do anything (other than have the PCs deal with the mephit). Round 3 is interesting in that one PC needs to give up their action to decant the metal, and I wish the first two rounds had been like that.

It's very linear but the linearity doesn't serve the best purpose insofar as introducing new or future factions. For example, introducing Daask or House Tarkanan or so on could be forced, but by design it's locked behind some checks (or a very optional quest). While linear adventures aren't problematic in and of themselves, as an introductory adventure I feel like it would have been served well if it actually helped introduce some of the factions and power players present in the world of Eberron, such as one or two of the Dragonmarked Houses. It did, however, introduce the Warforged in a great light; Stokes' opportunity to give a speech on why his crew is striking got players immediately interested in the story of the Warforged and helped them understand some of the intricacies behind who they are.

Worth it for the "Sharn Chicken" opening alone. My players loved it, as well as the entire scene down in the Cogs for the Warforged strike. I'd recommend this adventure to anyone who wants to start an Eberron campaign with a bang.

This is a fine and wonderful first level adventure with one of the best opening scenes ever, a free fall race through the skies of Sarn! Each scene is well ballenced and very well described, making it easy to run. We had a blast sneaking into the house of the grubby, greedy forge-master to dig up dirt and end the strike! Highly reccomended!

I gave this 4 stars just because it's the start: what happens if I found a better adventure during Convergence and I had give this one a 5 star rating? Thus being said, I just bought the whole series based on this first episode and half of the second. I, as GM, tend to overlook some quality aspects of the adventures in favor of sheer technical preparations. So, I fully believe my PCs when they say that this adventure was awesome; ecletic, energic, with so many things happening and options that they got the feeling of being in a living world. Thank you all, Across Eberron Team. I'll be in Graywall Mountains for couple of weeks, so, see you soon, and may the Host bless you all.

Excellent module for a level 1 party that is new to the setting! Has really strong direction but didn't feel too railroaded due to the amount of options that the party has in order to solve the main problem. Would definitely recommend as an intro to Sharn!

The only thing that I would personally change would be the sheer number of rolls needed to complete the first section. I felt that even just with a party of 3 it seemed to drag a bit, but this obviously will vary from party to party.

I haven't had the opportunity to DM this yet so the review is based on the read-thtoughs I've done in order to get ready. Sharn Chicken is an interesting idea that seems to be handled well. I like the fact that there's optional material. My favourite thing is the fact that the central problem (Warforged on strike) is not solely a combat situation. I think my players are going to enjoy that quite a lot.

I used this adventure to introduce my local group to the wonders of eberron and it was far easier then my past games in eberron for 5e as I wasn't needed to clarify every detail of the history and lore. They were so hooked and involved they grew more interested in Warforged (2 players now run them and another runs an artificer that worked with them in the war).

If you are new to Eberron or even a veteran to the amazing world this adventure is a great start for any group. I wished it had been out and available when I lived in washington and has me interested in bringing my old group from there back together for an online game so we can play all of the AE.

I've been playing these series with some friends and they are a great way to introduce players to Eberron. This adventure starts players in Sharn and takes them to the the lower districts and give a good idea of what to expect there! My players loves The Sharn Chicken mini game! great way to start the adventure

I ran this as our first session in Eberron, for both new and old Eberron players. It is kind of divided into two parts, the first a bit shorter. We made it through both in a longer, maybe 6h session, with some embellishments.

First part starts of with an intense but fun initiation into the Clifftop Adventurers Guild. I actually had the characters drive a rerun of this scene later on for a player who missed the first session, using some of the events that didn't make it through, and some new ones.

Second part takes the party to the Cogs, the industrial underbelly of the city This is not a dungeon crawl but a mostly social, though there is combat to be had for the trigger-happy.

The DM should be prepared to wing it a bit - my group, for example, ended up going further into Khybers Gate than detailed in the book, to pay off the enforcer. It helps to have a decent knowledge of the Cogs, so maybe pick up "Sharn: City of Towers" and read up about that part and the various places and organisations involved. It also touches upon places mentioned in "Steel Shadows", a 3.5E adventure by Keith Baker published in Dungeon #115 (https://archive.org/details/Dungeon_Magazine_115). If you're planning to run that, you may way want to use the opportunity to introduce some of the characters now.

All in all, I found this a great introduction to Eberron and the city of towers!

Ran this for my group recently and had a fun time. It was quite enjoyable to be able to throw a lot of the setting at them all at once; in particular, the Warforged striking for their rights got my players worked up and was quite enjoyable to see through!

My quibbles are relatively minor at the end of the day. While the game of Sharn Chicken at the start is an amazing set piece, the actual implementation turned out to be a little odd in play. I think relegating a player choice to a saving throw (whether or not to use the token) is a little odd... and the win condition does little to address the question of what happens if a player were to NOT break the token... say through the use of other magical means. I also feel that since all characters face the same obstacle, then a table seems unnecessary; instead a set series that brings the most Sharn flavor would have made more sense.

The other quibble is that of low level balance. As a mission designed for level 1 players, the Magma Mephits are particularly dangerous - while the party only is dealing with one at a time, both their Fire Breath and their Death Burst deal significant amounts of damage on a successful save (3 on average). When characters have such low amounts of health, this can rapidly add up and feels particularly punishing to melee heavy groups. I would suggest removing the half damage on save from Death Burst in particular, as this seems the biggest culprit with potentially dealing with ~3 Magma Mephits over the course of an encounter.

Regardless of these quibbles, a great product and I highly recommend it as an introduction to Eberron.

Fired & Forgotten makes a great splash as the first scenario for the Across Eberron campaign, and the first in the Convergence Manifesto adventure path. It includes multiple role-playing first scenes, combat encounters, and unforgettable scenes like Sharn Chicken! All the combats have unique twists of environments, motives, and objectives that spice them up more than just fight 1d4 goblins. Most scenes also have multiple paths to take, and multiple ways of dealing with obstacles. This makes it feels very player-oriented as the party gets to decide how they want to accomplish each goal.

I appreciate the inclusion of bonus scenes which add fun additions to the adventure and could easily be swapped out into other adventures if you were short on time. I especially liked how the adventure links in with the Eberron lore. It has a solid conclusion while still linking together to the next scenarios in the AP.

Spoilers Here. The links to the lore help to build out the world. The scenario introduces the other planes, The Cogs, Warforged rights, Abberant Dragonmarks, the Houses, and the Adventurers Guilds! That's a lot of different topics to include, but they're just light enough as a taste that can be expanded more in a campaign or future scenarios. I had only two issues with the scenario. The first is in Scene 5A the party returns to Drummond Independents to witness an Ettin shaking down the proprieter, but there's no reason for the party to be there instead of just taking the artifact to the buyer, and there's no reason to interact with the conflict because they don't care for either side. The other issue I had was there's a couple info dumps without enough player interactions, like when the party descends to The Cogs, or when the party seeks information from the Ettin. These could be tuned better by splicing in something between the long blocks of reading.

I would strongly recommend the game to any GM running an adventure in Eberron. It could be easily adapted to higher level play, and it works great as a standalone adventure. This adventure fits nicely in a four-hour slot and is a great introduction to Eberron and Sharn.

What a killer adventure. The Sharn Chicken opener is a real highlight, an absolute joy of a dicerolling minigame to play through and a thrilling introduction to just how tall and wondrous Sharn is. The underground wrestling match is also a very fun segment to playthrough, especially for the more theatrical players. Overall a good romp and a good introduction to Eberron. I look forward to the next installment.

The opening encounter is literally the perfect way to introduce Sharn, and Eberron in general! I can see both of my groups loving it, so I'll be running this adventure for one, and stealing the encounter for the other. Very excited to play through.
