This adventure does a great job of hooking the characters, giving them a mystery, and leading them to a place where they can solve it. The major location to explore is yet another building that doesn't look like it belongs in Sharn (not a segment of a tower), and the end fight was a bit of a joke for the characters - I had to triple the boss monster's healing ability to even keep it going for a few rounds. But overall, they had fun - it's definitely a step up from some of the heists of the past few scenarios.

A fun adventure that sets up the second half of the Embers of the Last War story arc.

The good:

  • The looks that players at a nearby table gave me when I announced "He kicks the baby carriage down the staircase" were priceless.
  • The Fiasco-style bonus objective where players take on other personas to play out a scene the PCs are observing was a blast! I want to run this again with a full table so we can explore the other characters.
  • The introduction of a couple of Eberron staples, the Wand Adept and the [redacted] in the final battle.

The bad:

  • This is the third adventure of the series in a row where the plot hook is "a mysterious entity sends the party a note that is almost certainly leading them into a trap". It's not a problem with this adventure per se, but maybe someone could have noticed this when editing the series as a whole.
  • If you are playing a small table at minimum level, the NPCs in the dream parlor can get overwhelming fast if a fight breaks out. I'd recommend swapping all of the Veterans out for Thugs.
  • Eberron purists may not like how a certain notable NPC is depicted in this series.

It's great to finally hit T2 and have the characters offense greatly improved to allow combat to run a lot stabler. Despite the fact this is yet another "1) stranger shows up at your place, 2) go break into building, 3) try not to agro as you search for info" module (there seems to be a lot of that in Ebberon) this one did it better than some of the previous attempts at the same thing.

This has been my favourite adventure so far. It opened well, has some cool bonus objectives, interesting encounters, and the links with ELW00 are cool.

By FAR my favourite season 8 adventure so far! Lots of mind-boggling twists, setups and fun roleplaying oppurtunities!

The story might be straight-forward, and if you as a player have kept track of the events in previous modules, the surprise unfolding during the module might not be that much of a surprise. But the way it is all unravelled, offers so much fun for both the DM and the players. The most well-edited and least error-filled module in the season so far makes it an even greater experience.

From start to finish, this module offers everything any group could want. And with the bonus objectives designed as they are, you can choose to make this module RP heavy (bonus A) and/or fight heavy (bonus B). Just if the magificent boss monster wasn't enough (yup, my player went 'Oooooh' when the boss was revealed!).

Each and every DMsGuild author should pick up on Will's writing style. It is examplary and worth following. As it has always been and so will be going forward, Will's modules will continue to stay in the top of my to-buy list (along with Rob Adduccis modules).

This is unequivocally my favorite adventure available on Dmsguild. It came out maybe two days ago and I have run it for two different groups of players. It has remarkable intrigue, cinematic moments that dont seem forced, intrigue and the gray morality that makes eberron such a memorable setting to me. Not to mention it throws an amazing boss fight at level five players (complete with legendary actions and resistances as well as a unique random effect on hit). I cannot recommend this adventure enough even if it doesnt have a printer friendly version.

Ill be keeping my eye out for any further Will Doyle adventures in this or any setting.
