Ran this as DM for an Adventurer's League open table.

Overview: This is a compelling, story-driven module with a good adventure hook, compelling main NPC, and resolution. It uses the mechanics of DnD to tell a story, and encounters to build a sense of location and purpose better than most Tier 1 content. The story is good enough, that when played / DMd well, I was actualy able to bring some of my players to the point of tears. It features roleplay, exploration and combat, and can be flexed between about 3 hours to 6 hours of runtime (mostly by expanding or contracting the "duneon crawl" component).

Three Pillars

• Combat: Reasonable variation. One epic set piece, several smaller encounters which are less meaningful but at least show a variety of interesting creatures. Objectively one of the weaker parts in terms of players but completely forgiven becuase the combat feels like it makes a difference rather than exhaustes the resources
• Roleplay: Both NPC interaction and player interaction is encouraged, but not challenging. More "If they think like a character, how would they act" than "Mercer-level voice acting and character performance". Assisted through combat and exploration
• Exploration: A good dungeon (forest setting) that rewards exploration by exposition. Other "exploration" pillar pieces tie into the roleplay (NPC interaction / challenges).

Why to buy: One of the best executed stories in a module I've seen, making use of all three pillars to build a concise but moving narrative

Why to avoid: Combat-centric players will not find as much to do here (except prompt anihillation by an NPC if they're a bit too stabby). Also slightly more complex player actions, so although well-rounded I wouldn't use as an "intro to DND" session.

Overall 5/5 definetly buy; consider getting the other modules (which 've yet to run) to support the Author's team

This is an ambitious module for tier 1 - it includes a wide variety of encounters and adventure play types, it connects to a number of seasonal storyline moments, and ties in a rather deep backstory and character development.

Does it accomplish it? Well... there's a reason it's a Gold bestseller!

It has a lot of positive notes going for it: the aforementioned points, plus an interesting Story Award, a well-flavored magic item, and so on.

Negatives? Well... some of the DM-facing writing seems a touch heavy-handed -- but the counterpoint to that is that, unlike a lot of modules, not too much is left to you to "extract via interpretation and guesswork." There are also some minor editing/grammatical errors/oversights, but nothing that compromises the ability to understand what's going on.

Overall? A solid pick, particularly for DMs / players that enjoy being part of a bigger story.

I love telling the story of the Five-Leaf Clover over and over. I enjoy every beat of this adventure, giving opportunities for all the pillars to shine. This is a great adventure to run purely for the story, and can get anyone invested in the NPCs.

This is an excellent adventure by one of the best currently writing creators. This is my goto adventure for my many starting Adventurers League groups.

A Dragon's Breath is one of the most heart warming tales of all time. Personally one of my favorite Tier 1 Adventures that sets the tenor for an adventurer's journey. There is a lot of heavy RP, and a ton of feels.

This is my favorite CCC adventure so far, and I've run a lot of them. This adventure is great for 1st time players, but I think that it is especially good for players who are fairly new to the game and have fought some goblins and kobolds but who haven't yet had any epic adventures. This is the adventure that will make them decide to be heroes. There are some great exploration and combat parts and some truely awesome social encounters

I'm generally hesitant to use words like "epic" when describing a module; such a term tends to be overused. In this instance, I have no choice. This is one of the most epic module I've ever played.

On the first night I played this module, I had no intention of playing it at all. I had another module prepared for that evening, and I was taking a moment to read ahead to decide what modules I wanted to run in the coming months. After reading through it, I immediately changed my plans, and spent the next few hours setting it up. I HAD to play it that night.

Without giving a spoiler, I will say that there was a specific moment in the module that made me say aloud "Oh, no they didn't" during my first reading. It was the moment that made me decide to run it instead of my planned module that first night, and it is that moment that's brought tears to the eyes of my players during multiple games.

A Dragon's Breath is an outstanding module, and was the first of many modules I've purchased from The Greasy Snitches. The module is structured in a way that creates incredible scenes, well structured call-backs, and memorable characters. It has a much more cinematic quality than most modules I've played.

At this point, it's a no-brainer; GSP modules are an "auto-buy" for me.

I always avoided running this because of great reviews surrounding it so I decided to wait for a chance to play it. But alas, that chance never came. I decided to run it instead for a group of fine adventurers today and I was blown away. They were blown away. We all were blown away. Not many advetnures can feel this epic. Thank you Paul Gabat. Please keep up the good work and looking forward to more!

I loved reading and running this adventure. I discovered it in the Australia Bushfire Relief package. Avoiding spoilers, there are some great experiences in here for a low level party. I plan to run it again and again. Such a fun and interesting adventure your party is sure to remember. Update 2nd time was even more fun!

This is a great module that works wonderfully as a standalone adventure, and I think it's perfect for introducing new players to D&D. It opens with a short combat scene, followed by dropping the characters into the fantastic setting and not being shy about it. There's a dragon, fey creatures aplenty, and an enchanted forest. The bulk of the adventure consists of exploring a hex map, which features a good balance of combat, social, and exploration encouters.

I ran it for a group of level 1 players, all new to D&D, and we had a good time. Just one thing I'd warn DMs about: the exploration phase is quite dependent on the dice. In my game, the players bumped into the final encounter by accident, as the dice decreed their ranger lost the way when leading the party somewhere else. As a result, the group never got to explore most of the forest (though it meant we actually finished the adventure in pretty much exactly 4 hours) and one expressed surprise at the game being too short.

Despite this, a solid 5/5!

I love that this covers combat, roleplay, and exploration in one neat package. Taking note of the slight deadliness of the first encounter, I had enemies go last in initiative so all players had at least 1 turn. I ran this as an intro to d&d for a mix of kids and teens, and it's all they've been talking about for the last 48 hours!

(Spoilers) I run adventures for a mix of high school students and staff with a goal of introducing new players to D&D. While my groups have always enjoyed the modules they played, this is by far the best I've ever DM'd. The scale of this adventure is amazing, from throwing the characters into combat immediately, to getting to fight alongside a dragon, to experiencing flight at level 1. A Dragon's Breath definitely hooked some new D&D players. I warn DMs to be careful with the opening combat for first time players. Unless the players built characters who already have a connection, they will be thrown into combat by themselves immediately. This is amazing because players want to fight! But this is so dangerous for the squishy 1st level players, like wizards and bards. A seasoned player knows that sometimes you get 1-shot knocked out and to just wait patiently to see where the story goes, but a first time player who gets knocked out before they ever get a chance to play has a frustrating and boring first time playing experience. Admittedly it was my fault for not asking for my players' max HPs before we started. I had just never run into any module like this before and it didn't even occur to me to protect the squishies. The story is built so that any player that is knocked out early will be healed after all of the combat ends, so the characters are safe from perma-death, but it's still not a fun experience for the first timers. With that small warning/adjustment, I strongly recommend this module whole-heartedly. It's a keeper!

Great little adventure that includes one of the best NPCs I've played with (Temman Dander). Nice intro adventure or change of pace. One encounter, the Redcaps is way unbalanced and a TPK unless modified.

My personal favorite to DM, this adventure takes your party on a truly amazing adventure that introduces a cast of NPCs that are sure to be remembered: from the magnificent Ragvala to the insufferable Temman Dander, this is a must have for every Adventurers League DMs aresenal.

Purchased the adventure as a part of a fundraising effort for doctors and really enjoy how well written it is, how fleshed out the characters and scenes are. Job well done!
