This is a well-designed adventure that stands on the Social and Exploration pillars of D&D. As others have noted, the Combat pillar is light or non-existent here, and you may need to invent something to keep your "tanks" occupied. It's also heavily weighted towards your sneaky characters - your party will be tempted to split up so that the rogues can explore while the rest of them mingle. More could have been done to provide clues and secrets for the others who wished to interact with the guests.

But, overall, the group had fun and the adventure itself is tightly constructed - and it's OK to have a session where the fighters aren't pivotal. The "macguffin" isn't so easily found, and there aren't obvious shortcuts to obtaining it that the adventure-as-written doesn't account for. Balance it out with one of the items from "Encounters In Sharn" (there is an obvious follow-up, a fight-heavy one involving a House Sivis break-in and the lightning rail station), and everyone will be happy.

Kind of combat light for my taste, but the RP options more than made up for it. A better labled map would have help aliviate some confusion.

While this adventure is a fun one to run I found a number of issues to it. The reasoning behind the adventure (the Call to Arms) is very weak and left my players constantly asking if they really cared about it and why they should care about it. There are places where it is expected to get into a fight, and no real direction about what to do if they don't want to fight. It leads on well to future adventures but doesn't follow on very well from the previous one.

I liked the preparatory actions the party can take before trying to enter the ball. It's hard to judge how the adventure should run; I had a very odd party who tried to break convention as much as possible. They triggered all sorts of alarms, got into a fight with the guards, and only half the group escaped with the letter.

This module is fantastic all thanks to the manor. The manor provides a wealth of possibilities for how to approach the situation and accomplish the objective. Everyone can find a course of action that appeals to their character, and DM's will enjoy this module going different routes every time they run it.

My one piece of advice to DM's is to be careful with the Veteran. Guards getting called on the characters should be a challenge, but the Veteran can be a deadly problem for a lower level party.

Interesting, flexible, RP and social heavy, i like it. But it would be hard for new DMs, since there big room for non planed developments, and you need to be ready to improvise. And i dont think combat heavy parties wouldnt like it, since this module not only can be done without battles, its hard to be done with more when one battle. Yes as master you could do it as brute assault mission but well that would be like different module then :)

The adventure is great, fun story and a legitimate heist, but what makes this a five star product are the rules for preparring for the heist. Giving options for casing the joint, talking to somebody with insider information, forging documents/disguises, bribing lovable urchans, and gathering information in a concise and easy to remember fashion are tools that not only enhance the noir feel but allow the players to make their own unique approach to infiltration. I loved this adventure and will likely use it's Preparing for the Job page anytime I run an adventure like this in the future.

I got a chance to play this at Mythcon in Montreal. Very fun adventure with 2 of the best Season 8 bonus objectives I've seen yet (our DM worked them in so smoothly I didn't even know). This is a great module to see a number of aspects of Eberron, strong social interactions, investigative exploration, and one fantastic possible chase.

Only reason I'm not giving it 5/5 is that the maps need to be updated with slightly higher res-copies. If they get updated — I'd go 5/5.

Bravo Bill.
