This is exactly what I was looking for! My players have recently chanced upon Mordenkainen's Library, where they were offered rewards by its attendants for removing another, far more disruptive intruder. This contains everything I need to accomplish that and more, saving me from having to create these potential artefacts entirely by myself, which gives me more time to prepare every thing else for the next session!

It is exceedingly well written and perfectly captures the voice of Mordenkainen, especially within his supplemental notes that feature as excerpts throughout the book. These inserts are thoroughly entertaining, frequently amusing and add a great deal of enjoyable characterisation to the reading experience. I would say that it is worth reading for these elements alone, as it gives more insight into the life and mind of the archmage, but fortunately, the entire work is equally well realised and provides an invaluable resource for anyone that wants updates and variations of spells and items (and more) from both 5e and classic editions that are Mordenkainen centric (though they can of course be integrated and used without crediting this provenance).

Finally, the layout and design are pleasing, restrained and easy to follow, with a sparing use of art that is used selectively to enhance the experience, rather than splashy page filler.

All in all, highly recommended!

The team of talented individuals put so much extraordinary effort into creating a "bloody" brilliant tome. With such a mass of incredible additions that can augment any Curse of Strahd campaign with further gothic elements, or any campaign looking to provide a greater breadth of spellcasting options and greater eldritch versatility for warlocks, this book is a win for anybody purchasing. This is a delightfully dark addition to the library with MANY new spells for all arcane casters, as well as additional invocation options for warlocks (removing your hand or eye for scouting purposes, anyone?). In addition, there is information concerning the Vistani to put into play with any Ravenloft set campaign, providing context to enrich your gothic world. Don't have casters? Look to the variety of magic items that are sure to enrich that tired collection of items in the DMG. Mordenkainen's Lost Notebook is an incredible buy and wonderful addition to any library. Great work to all involved!

As a Ravenloft DM and the creator of the Mordenkainen's Magnificent Statblock , the release of this product delights me as nothing else. With every one of the 140+ spells you get a small note written by Mordenkainen which really brings the reader's mind closer to the genius of Mordenkainen and how he sees the world. The spells are quite balanced , creative and well-thought. There is some art too. what I appreciated the most is the lore. I don't want to spoil anything for but it really gives any DM reading it new depths regarding the vistani story. A lot of the magic items can be used in your generic CoS game while if you are running a homebrewed Raveloft campaign (Like i do) you are going to be amazed with almost everything found in the treasury of magic items.

TL;DR Just buy it. You will not regret it. It will expand your Ravenloft experience beyond what any words could describe.
