O..... M..... G ...... This module is magnificent!

From start to end, I had my players on edge, awaiting what would come next. They chose the Hagsplitter path and had a wonderful time with the NPC living there. The end of the module, they went to great lengths to trick the BBEG, and partly succeeded. We had an almost zero-encoutner experience, but all players agreed that it was both fitting and fun!

If you need a different module with the chance of very few encounters both loaded with RPing and a trip to another plane, this is the thing for you.

Very fun and entertaining little module. Fairly straight-forward story that eventually folds up the threads by the end of the main story line. Good composition and funny cast of NPCs.

Great backstory for the main villain, which opens up for more action in the other CCC-GHC-BK modules. Looking forward to playing around a bit more with the setting in the Border Kingdoms.

Spoilers ahead: Funny interpretation of the AL rules concerning the handout of the bonus objective "magic" item. Seems like a loophole, but if it's accepted by the AL Admins, I'm cool with it :) It made my <= season 7 players very happy with skipping the unlock shenanigans and instead opened up for fighting over an item :) If this is AL legal, keep it up! :D #bringbackseason7rules :P

Very good writing style and formatting, can only recommend this for new and experienced players alike.

I have nothing - NOTHING - negative to say about this module! It wins from the very first sentence and just keeps getting better!

I won't bring up any spoilers, but long story short, the adventurers are - finally - sent off to Forgehold in The Cogs to locate the creation forge and eventually decide what to do with it.

Along the way, a plethora of (potentially) funny NPCs will cross the PCs way - there's an army of utility warforged that you as a DM can use for literally anything - and there's even a tiny easter egg hidden in one of the fitter/riggers room (LOVED it and even got a few 'arrrrws' from the players - THIS is why I play, THIS is why I DM).

The overall composition leaves for a bit of running around so use those random encounter tables!

Overall story, execution, map and everything is top notch! Once again an A-class module from MT Black and everything we could possibly want from a campaign finale!

DDAL-ELW06 A Holy Visit

A decent mid-quality module! :)

Spoilers ahead! Upon first read-through, the primary conclusion as a DM is: What is the point of this module, we already know the conclusion?

If the characters did not play any of the foregoing modules, we are suggested to pull them through The Callestan Clash from Encounters in Sharn. That may very well be a good introduction, but 1) Encounters in Sharn is another paid product - didn't we already pay for this adventure? - and 2) The Callestan Clash is a tier 1 encounter. I'm a little unsure if a tier 1 encounter can be used as an AL legal introduction to a tier 2 module. Oh, did I mention, that the players are - for the first time in Eberron, though - offered 50GP to help out in the Call to Action. I guess this could use a little brush-up following the no-monetary-rewards clause. (Maybe leave it in as an option for homebrew'ers, and instead mention the possibliity that House Medani will remember the players help going forward?)

Which brings me to the overall level of detail in the module. Granted, we have a couple of harder NPCs to kill, but the module in itself does not really invite the players to start a fight. It's more of a stealthy follow-that-cab kind of story, which - in the end - offers what seems a pointless discovery along with a fairly decent fight. For the bonus objectives, things get a little more fun. Bonus A is quite fun and can be challenging, but bonus objective B.. Well. We're supposed to sick the players on an ooze and skeleton .. Put against a 6-man army of level 5-6ish characters, unfortunately that's not much of a challenge. Coming to the conclusion of the module, the magic item in itself is - sorry for being so blunt - just not up to par on a tier 2 module.

Of course, we couldn't expect all of the modules to be of equal high quality. However, this module seems to be originally written as a tier 1 module and then upgraded to fit tier 2. It's a little strange, but I hope my feddback could lead to a small update of the text. Particularly the possible Clash intro needs to be changed, as it doesn't seem AL legal (to my understanding).

Now, A Holy Visit is not as big a mess as Jack of Daggers (I refuse to write a review of Jack of Daggers..) and if I'm right, the overall goal from the overall story editors, has been sort of thin, leading to a story with an interesting setup for a fairly weak goal to achieve.

Having played the game, I'll add a little something to the review.

Possible spoilers! Granted - two thumbs up, Ashley - the story setup is quite fun and interesting. For the second time in the Eberron campaign, the entire table kept quiet while I pulled them through the introduction. This - in itself - is a very big plus! Great setup! The flow lost a bit of its velocity after the players entered The Anvil. Pulling out a little fun from the bard on the stage, the game got a little speedier, and once the NPCs started leaving the private dining room, thing picked up quite quickly. The 'boss fight' was quite good and fairly well balanced, and another two thumbs up for bonus A. My players had a lot of fun comnunicating with Cat and Pup and took a decent blow from the NPC which was good and well-placed.

In hind-sight, I'd like update my review and rating. There was quite a lot more fun in the adventure than expected, although two of my players felt there were no need for them, which was a shame - however, this could never ever be the authors fault.

By FAR my favourite season 8 adventure so far! Lots of mind-boggling twists, setups and fun roleplaying oppurtunities!

The story might be straight-forward, and if you as a player have kept track of the events in previous modules, the surprise unfolding during the module might not be that much of a surprise. But the way it is all unravelled, offers so much fun for both the DM and the players. The most well-edited and least error-filled module in the season so far makes it an even greater experience.

From start to finish, this module offers everything any group could want. And with the bonus objectives designed as they are, you can choose to make this module RP heavy (bonus A) and/or fight heavy (bonus B). Just if the magificent boss monster wasn't enough (yup, my player went 'Oooooh' when the boss was revealed!).

Each and every DMsGuild author should pick up on Will's writing style. It is examplary and worth following. As it has always been and so will be going forward, Will's modules will continue to stay in the top of my to-buy list (along with Rob Adduccis modules).

Had great fun preparing and playing this. It really felt like an interactive Hollywood production. I get the critisism, that it might have been a little .. non-interactive, and yes the level 0 pregens are really squeemish. Went one round with the Boromars and I had to break off the fight unless they would be killed all of them.

Great cinematic descriptions, screen-worthy action! Would love to see this script brought to the big screen!

From an RPG perspective, it was indeed more of a story-telling event. My players had fun, used Han Solo as a backdrop for Sebastian (intended? I think so!), and it was great fun. Unfortunately didn't get to get rid of the Professor in the described way - which I utterly love - but my players ended up getting away on the Platinum Egret and sailing off towards the .. wel .. you know :)

Definitely fun to play and an okay introduction to the Sharn setting.

Very fun to run, yet quite puzzling for the players.

The setup is brilliant, and the module doesn't cater well for players that goes 'Sure, we'll help find the culprit' voluntarily, but it still worked out quite ok despite their eagerness :)

Reading the module was really a smooth ride, though it could use another spell-proofing read-through. My players also struggled - like Kevin H's - with Bonus Objective B. It's clearly(?) something to be used further down the line in other episodes (I hope?) but it made little sense in the murder solving thread of the story.

Three of my four players hit the dust during the boss fight, which I find adequate (ok, I gave the bronze scout it's lightning attack as a death rattle which helped a bit but was quite fun, as it's really fairly simple to avoid).

Also, great rejoice over the magic item! Really nice with something everybody can use :)
