Quite a fun little adventure. Interesting enemies and a good story/quest to go on with great theatre of the mind/setting. My one complaint is difficulty: I ran the adventure as a ranged fighter with a friend playing a greataxe barbarian at level 11 and had little to no difficulty. The description says "Level 9 will provide a deadly, near impossible challenge, and level 11 a moderate challenge," for two PCs, but level 11 didn't feel like it was a challenge whatsoever; most enemies died in one or two attacks, including the final boss which fell to a single attack action (three attacks) from my fighter.

That said, I definitley had fun and intend to run the adventure again, most likely with four PCs at level 2. I can easily see how some of the encounter designs can be harrowing for parties of less hardy (and less deadly) PCs.

I played as 2 lvl 10 pcs, arcana cleric & eldritch knight, both highelves. I rolled really well and survived without using more than a minor healing potion- though it was close. This was a lot of fun but i felt like everything in the 4e magazine could have been copy-pasted. But Worth it.

Hey Steven. You're right, everything could have been copy-pasted. But that would have been a major copyright violation. As Guild creators, we are allowed to reference WOTC material in our products, but we can't reproduce it verbatim. Thanks for the kind review :)

I never played the original 4e Menace of the Icy Spire campaign so I cannot give any thoughts on how well this conversion is in that regard. However, I can say that I had a great time playing this adventure. I chose to play with a friend as 9th level PCs. My friend as a dwarf battlerager and myself as an elf druid. We may seem an unlikely pair but the dwarf has a secret fascination with magic and the elf has a dark side wherein he is drawn to the battlerager's ability to focus his emotions deal out some hurt!

Anyway, we tore through this adventure in a few hours' time. We were ambushed. We overlooked traps. But ultimately we made our way through Draigdurroch’s tower and successfully lifted the curse of the Icy Spire. The encounters were thoughtful, challenging, and engaging. The organization was nice but bware...you really do need Dungeon Magazine #159, as the author has stated, to fully enjoy this adventure. In fact, you'll need the maps for a meaningful playing experience.
