A very fun module to both run and play through. The battles were intriguing, especially while sailing in an ocean of lava and during the puzzle encounter, and the trick the efreeti play on both parties was a good laugh for me as DM.

I ran this module (and then the rest of the trilogy) recently as standalone adventures. I used both the PDF and the FG module during the game and found that module detail, contents, maps, etc were well setup and helpful for the DM and players. We took our time doing this module over 2 sessions with a total time of about 6 hours in the module itself.

The combats were fun but nothing too unusual, however I think the "puzzle" encounter was perhaps the main highlight for our group with the extra element of danger involved. I found some Tarokka card images and showed those to the players. I also made some tokens from the images to put on the map for the characters to manipulate as they were working out the puzzle solution (it was a fully online game, so no physical handouts). I think it helped to make the encounter better.

Overall, I think this module is worthwhile running.

This adventure is set after the Devastation of Mulmaster, but takes place almost completely outside of the city. The need to socialize and interact with creatures the party might normally be inclined to fight provided a good chace to use their skills in a non-combat environment. It also contains one of my favorite monsters as part of the challenge in part two. The reaction from my players was one of shock and delight as they re-organized their plan on the fly for this creature. The included maps are a boon for anyone using a VTT and I was easily able to move them into Roll20 and size them correctly.

This was easily one of the best AL-legal modules I have DMed. The players enjoyed their sojourn on the Elemental Plane of Fire. The locations are exotic and exciting, and there is just the right balance of Role Play, Exploration and Combat. The Efreeti Pasha and Princess were a great way to get the players involved in the story, while still keeping the characters, rather than the NPCs, at centre stage. The logic problem seemed to be really enjoyed by the players. The looks on their faces as the lava rose and they became increasingly frantic to solve the clues was priceless. Some of them earned a "tramp stamp" tattoo which was a hoot. The module comes with all the resources you need - I enlarged the full colour maps so that they were scaled for Minis, which added to the visual appeal of the adventure. I would suggest that you buy a Tarroka card set. You do not need them, but again, the visual element and immersion is that bit better with "real" props. Congratulations to the writer of this CCC - hats off to you!

From start to finish this was a great module to play and a terrific start to the Reborn Flame Trilogy. Starting at the lava kraken encounter in the sea of fire to the battle on the dragon turtles back each fight seemed to fit the theme of the module and have an impact as to how the current and future adventures would be run. My favorite part and the reason I plan on running this adventure again though is the puzzle room. Having a real time element of danger to that encounter heightened the pressure on the players at the table. I'm very happy that 3 different solutions to the puzzle were provided in the adventure.

All the players were tired but happy at the end of this one and all of them continued onward with the rest of the trilogy. Timeframe, the last fight took 90 mins but we still finished in 4 hours.

This module was the perfect mix of RP, combat and a really good puzzle. I loved the twist with the Efreets and it turns out I really like playing cult fanatic NPCs. Even when I was reading this I knew it was special so I went all out on the map, brought in a pirate ship mini for the early bits, and had 6 separate voices prepped for the NPCs and the players loved it (they especially seemed to enjoy exploring on a differant plane. And best of all since you can change the principle puzzle it has replayability as well as one of the coolest trinkets i've seen in the game to award.

I won't write a long review, but I ran this last weekend and it was a blast. Easily one of the best AL modules I've ran.

It has a good mix of exploration (seeing the elemental plane of fire), role play (lots of good interactions, well laid out by the module, the friggin' crown!), puzzles (the timed inverted pyramid puzzle had my party stressed out), and encounters (the lava roper encounter was incredible! the final encounter was tough, yet could be solved by talking). The module is well laid out and one read through was sufficient to run the module. I feel like the organization could have been a little better for the pyramid puzzle. It was broken down by locations on the map instead of logical/sequential portions of the puzzle. Which made it slightly confusing, but I figured it out in ~5-10 minutes. There were no errors that I saw in terms of grammar, spelling, etc. It was clearly well proofread, which I appreciate greatly. It's a little tough to fit into a four hour time slot, but it's not a module I'd consider impossible to fit in a 4 hour time slot. They also provide guidance for reducing the run time of the module, which I always appreciatei. I managed it by running the final encounter real quick.

One note, you do need to print out the handouts for the pyramid puzzle. If you don't have that, then I don't know that portion of the module can be ran easily. The map for the pyramid puzzle is also complicated and will take a long time to draw if you're doing it. I had my party draw it while I talked through the post ship scenes (getting to the palace, meeting the efreeti/talking to ardet/the setup for the challenge). And with 3 people drawing it took them ~20 minutes.

My only major gripe is the magic item (a portable hole), kinda sucked.

TL; DR: This is one of the most exciting and fun-filled AL adventures I have ever run, as a DM. I rarely give five stars for a module. This one deserves it. I highly recommend buying the mod and running it. It is a professional product that the author keeps on updating. FIVE OUT OF FIVE STARS!!!!.

I have been looking around to run a good Tier 2 module for my players and this one came highly recommended. Since Michael Zhang had designed it, I had very high expectations and I have to say that this one surpassed my wildest expectations. I loved prepping and running this module. My players loved the flavor and the witty/ dry humor laced into it.I can say this unequivocally - the mod is perfection in itself.

A lot of playtesting and fine-tuning has gone into the designing of this mod. I, highly recommend that all the authors of seasonal and CCC mods should use this one as a point of reference and standard for their own work. This is the kind of hard work and attention to detail that one would expect from an author towards his work. The author was always a step ahead of me and had anticipated my needs as a DM and I found the information right where I wanted it. All the plot holes are covered and all the plot points have been raised to the level of perfection that I would call this a truly professional product- a first of its kind in DMS guild. The evidence of my claim is in the fact that the author has already updated the module multiple times to reflect the changes of season 8. How many other authors can claim the same?. Such dedication to one's product is what is expected of AL authors. Kudos to the author for his dedication to using the best feature of the online book- Editing to keep on honing and updating his finished product.

One of the highlights of this module are the NPCs. It was a thrill to present such exhilarating characters like the Pasha Razim, Ameera Kessara and even the lowly salamander whose unfortunate job is to proclaim the arrival of the Pasha at every doorstep. The setting – the sun-scorched palace in the Plane of Fire- itself is just the icing for the module. My players enjoyed their stint in the plane of fire and they had a great time overall. The most exciting part was the puzzle using the Tarokka deck, which was laden with traps and miscues. The puzzle itself required a bit of preparation from the side. And I have to say that I didn’t do justice to it when I ran it the first time. Because there are three versions of this puzzle, there is a lot of value in replaying this content.

If you are looking for a good Tier 2 module, I wholeheartedly recommend this one. I would recommend that the DM do a trial run of the puzzle once before hitting the table. I guarantee you that your players will enjoy the challenges the author had braided into this excellent piece. Let the raging fire consume you.

My players loved it - exotic location, interesting intrigue, a few but not too many tactically-interesting fights, memorable characters with inner motivations, unusual brainteasers (reminds me of the LSAT lol), great roleplaying opportunities. All round a great adventure!

This is one of the most fun and evocative mods I've run! Highly recommended. But be warned, this does require more prep than most mods too. There are cards and clues to cut out, and the combat maps are necessarily too detailed to draw on the fly effectively.

I just ran this for a highly optimized group of DMs and authors. The combat encounters, even at Very Strong, are too weak for really well put together party. However, combat in this module is pretty incidental, even largely unnecessary. The setting, scenery, and story is what makes this mod work.

I recommend you get a Tarokka deck.

All in all, I feel that it is a good module, great setting and NPCs, but combat is lacking. If you have a super high powerful party, they will run over the encounters, but eh, it happens.

It also runs pretty quickly, well below a 4 hour runtime if the party gets the puzzle right.

This adventure is an example of excellence that I hope that other writers take note. It has 4 things that I'd like to call out as key components of a great adventure module:

  1. Wonderment - There's exotic locations and magic of the sort that players always dream about when they imagine playing D&D.
  2. Balance - There is a nice mix of interesting role playing, creative puzzles, and challenging combat in this adventure so that players of every sort will have a good time.
  3. Story - The story is not only interesting and fun, it also ties into the larger world and potentially other adventures in the area. That's always ideal for capturing imaginations and getting players excited.
  4. Excellence - The editing and game balance is top tier, something that not all adventures can claim. From the box text to the combat options to the beautiful maps and handouts, a great deal of love and attention has been given to this product and it shows.

Fantastic module. Fun to play and run. Wonderful puzzles and an excellent example of an elemental plane done right.

This module also has one of the best trinkets I have ever seen.
