Played this for my local AL group, ran 5 players APL 7. I ran all of the fights at or near the very top difficulty.

This is really fun adventure. There is a great mix of intrigue, interesting NPCs, meaningful decision-making, and excellent combat. The battles are intense but provide great opportunities for players to think on their feet and detail with not just the monsters, but also the environment.

The module is extremely well written and provides very helpful DM tips and assistance to navigate the various possible branches, as well as providing great art and accessories to go along with it. Will definitely run it again.

This is a really exciting module that explores the dark underbelly and treachery of drow culture. Every time I've ran the adventure, my players have enjoyed the twist in the story as they work out what's really going on and the potential lies upon lies that they've been told. From a DMing standpoint, it's quite fun keeping on top of what the players do or don't know, and roleplaying an extremely deceptive drow was a very enjoyable experience for me.

As with all three modules in this trilogy, the players get to make a number of choices that impact the adventure so it's not as strictly railroaded as some other AL modules. Also, this module provides a "story award" of sorts that gives the players a code that then dictates how certain events unfold in future modules of the trilogy which is excellent in terms of continuity and immersiveness.

In terms of combat, the module offers a good level of challenge as written; none of the fights are complete pushovers except the first, but that's intentional. The adventure makes good use of some not so usual monsters in one fight which can throw the players a little, and the map for the final battle is excellent in terms of providing cover and a long range so your players (and you!) can play a bit more tactically rather than standing in one spot and hitting eachother until someone dies.

I've been running a series of adventures about Zethlentyn Protectorate. This one is (a kind of) the first adventure of the series and provide very interesting and detailed introduction to Drow society in Zethlentyn. Players would discover Drow society, politics & religion are not that simple, and this makes the players think, debate and finally make a decision. I run this module for 7 hours, and my players enjoyed the time. For DMs, it offers very kind guidlines and suppliments. Thanks for what the author have done, and I'm expecting more stories under Underdark, not only Drows'.

I really enjoyed running this series. I would recommend making sure to read all three adventures before running any of them. Also, some of my players were not as fond of it because they needed more of a good versus evil. These mods are more realistic. They exist in the gray area. The adventurers are entwined in a situation where there is no truly good side. It was a nice change.

This is a really great module. It has epic scope, memorable NPCs, and amazing combats. It has a few blemishes but it's just so good that you can't take off points for them. The adventure is combat heavy, but there is a decent amount of roleplaying and exploration, and even though it is underground it does not feel like a crawl because it captures the flavor of the Underdark. The NPCS are nuanced, mostly evil, and extremely likeable. You should buy this module, but I do have two small caveats: there are some mistakes in the text that are confusing and I think could be fixed. For example, there is advice about a certain NPC casting revivify at one point, but that NPC is a wizard and not a cleric (there is another cleric NPC, but she is not likely to be casting revivify). While the hook is somewhat clumsy, the rest of the adventure gives the characters meaningful choices that influence the story all throughout. This means there are some flowcharts and it takes some study to understand the plot, so I'd advise against running this one on the fly if you can avoid it. The combats in this are very challenging, which is great, but if you have a party of 5th level characters and you can hold off a few levels on this, you'll have more fun because you won't have to pull punches.

Hi and thank you for taking the time to leave a review, glad you enjoyed the adventure! Although not directly explained in this adventure, the NPC in question is not of a specific player class, and has access to a number of spells outside a typical wizard spell list. Without leaving any spoilers here in the comments, these come from the NPC's religious affiliations. The CCC format doesn't allow for creating custom, so we work with an existing base stat block, which is typically of a certain class, and is listed in the adventure. I think in one of the follow-up adventures, there's actually an explanatory bit about multi-class NPCs and spell lists. I'll make a note to add one here when I next update the mod. Thank you for focusing on the positive and not on the errors! :)

This is, by far, the most engaging and trilling Tier 2 adventure I have had the pleasure of running. It's combination of classic monsters, tough challenges, and shifting loyalties plays veru well without being too difficult. On top of this, the unlock is one most of my players seem very excited about.and see no reason to not keep it in my arsenal of goto CCC

So far I have run this adventure three times and I see no reason to not keep it in my arsenal of goto CCC adventures.

This module should be taken as an example, simply amazing!! The care even in the smallest details is incredible, the maps, the NPCs, the fights, one of the best adventures I've ever played. Players have to make several decisions about which side they want to take, and all the NPCs have a wonderful characterization. My players immediately asked me if the sequel is already available! I can't wait to buy it..

[3.5/5 Stars] I've run this twice now and I think it offers a great "Pick Your Path" change of pace from the typical scenario. It flows fairly well, but it needlessly bogs down in a couple places and the combats aren't as challenging as they should be- especially considering a long rest is given.

While the dive into the underdark is thematic, when the caverns branch L1-R1/L2-R2/Cavern of Death there should just be ONE map with stuff to investigate/discover. That would have built tension while being vastly more efficient and interesting. It could also give the party more interaction with Shintyrr to find out who he is, giving more reason to re-evaluate their relationship later.

Lengthy (graphic) death sequences end up comedic for the fact they're each longer than most monologues I've seen in D&D. A couple good images and a coup de grace is really all these needed.

My final qualm with this is in the final fights. While the fight against Axcelia (an Archmage) was interesting, it dragged out fairly defensively since she doesn't want to kill the party- I eventually had her make an escape rather than going for a TPK, but a speedy party member still wanted to chase her down... Meanwhile the Drow Warband fell pretty quickly to a little AOE. It would benefit from more CR 4-6 characters (instead of 5x CR 1/2 and 2x CR 2) that can live through the players' opening AOE attack, ensuring Lemethra doesn't get swarmed and overwhelmed quickly.

I look forward to seeing the story continue and hope to run the whole thing for a party some time.

Thanks for the detailed review! I'll take a look at the maps, those two may be labelled in the wrong order. For death sequences - and any of the monologues really - it's definitely an option to go with your own version! For challenge at the final encounter, what I've done if I had a stronger party against Lemethra's forces was have more of the devils peel off and engage the PCs and that worked quite well for balance. Substituting a couple of Drow Elites for the ground forces might also work.

Really fun to run, with great NPCs whose motivations are clearly explained. Nice hook for further adventures, but works perfectly as a standalone adventure, too. I am looking forward to next chapter in the story !

Very good story. Interesting NPCs. Unlink most mods where the choice of who to help is obvious this mod made the players think hard about their choices. Looking forward to more mods in this storyline.

Well rounded and thought out, fun to run, and the group really enjoyed and is interested in the next 2 modules in the series. My only suggestion would be to include more of a transition to get the party from the initial surface encounter to the underdark.
