As a Dungeon Master, I am always looking for new and interesting NPC's both good and evil. I usually have my own created, but often enough one of my players says, who's that guard or i want to talk to the that villager etc. These books have saved me time and time again. Cawood publishing has outdone themselves. I have used the Hirelings &Henchmen book many a session. I have been following Cawood Publishing for about two years and each product I've used has had a place at my table. I always pull out the great three. PHB, DMG, MM, and now there is a set of monsters level 1-12 at my fingertips. I would recommend purchasing either of these books for simple, well formed NPC's to dazzle your PC's and make shorter work for session prep or to always a NPC in your back pocket. Thank you Cawood Publishing for making this DM's life a little easier and my session even more immersive!

I have to agree with Christopher S. The NPC's reflect the race and they have depth which makes it easy for me to add a story around one. Well done!

Super Impressed with Friends and Foes I.... Not only is an excellent assortment, but each has an Ideal, Flaw, Bond, Background and more. The names often feel aligned with the race or class which is an added bonus. Overall, this is an incredible help for any DM or anyone who is need of options. There really is no need to make your own (outside of the sheer fun in doing so). I know I will be going to this reference in my ToA game. Excellent work from Cawood.

I'm a fan of these types of supplements that allow me to pull a character out of thin air when my mind is feeling less than creative. The book has plenty of interesting NPCs.

The categories are broken down into friends, foe NPCs and foe monsters. You geta bit of background, personality traits, and descriptions to make life easy for you.You may be fine coming up with awesome NPCs on your own and don't think you need something like this but this book is more than just hundred or so characters, it's a million stories, and that too without investing too much work or time. A very helpful supplement in my opinion.
