This is a gorgeous adventure, beautifully written and lovingly put together with so many small, thoughtful details woven in and such a playful and witty style that make it a pleasure both to play and to DM. It's easy to tweak and add your own hooks, flavour and lore, the NPCs are all fully developed and really enjoyable to role play, the challenges and intrigues are intelligent and engaging but straightforward enough that the group had no problems solving them, and – most importantly – we all loved it from start to finish. Will definitely be running it again with other groups.

I have ran this for two groups now (slightly modified both times for lore reasons) but I feel like it works really well as written! It's a really fun dungeon crawl and I really loved all the puzzles especially. The puzzles aren't very hard, both of my parties figured everything out without trouble (one group did stay in the frog puzzle for a while though). Also both my parties were too cautious about the treasure room to really poke at anything dangerous, which was a shame. (maybe it would help to have this earlier, so players aren't as worried about resources yet?)

The only room I'd have liked to be different was the mirror room. I felt it was too much work to make NPC copies of the player characters and it would have been nice to have some suggestion about what kind of monster one could use instead. I think demons or devils would work. Personally I ended up using elementals one one run through and golems on the other (as they fit the theme of the game better than demons or devils) I also tweaked the no rest rule to also apply to short rests, as like I said both my parties were having a bit of a too easy time off it (at lvl11).

The descriptions of rooms and puzzles were well written and there was just enough flavor. Players commented on it positevely, so thumbs up!

Hey Tanja Thanks so much for taking the time to share your feedback! I am always wondering if anyone is playing any of my adventures right now, and how they're getting on! Good to hear that the puzzles didn't prove a roadblock. The treasure room I believe was Eszteban's old lab, and credit to your party... they probably realised he would have left some traps there, under the circumstances. The mirror room was one of my faves to run, as I really enjoyed turning some of the players' (overpowered!) abilities against them! The fight is configured to favour the party still, as the shadows are birthed without any magic items for example. Your criticism is totally legit though... and some DMs might prefer just to swap in a suitable established monster stat block. Thanks for raising that issue and providing a solution! I actually wrote this adventure before totally mastering the 5e rules (I may have handed out exhaustion a bit readily en route to the Citadel and the no rest mechanic - while scary, may be a little too punitive), so for sure DMs will want to smooth off some rough edges when they run it. Glad however you and your players had fun, and hopefully GCC stands up as a good inverse dungeon crawl today! Thanks again :-)

This is a brilliant adventure. The hooks are relatively straightforward, but presented in a fashion that would be easy enough to customize to any PC party to generate personal investment in seeing the story through. The design is elegant, fun, and contains a number of familiar wizard tower tropes presented in refreshing ways. There is sufficient NPC intrigue to allow the more political-minded players to garner enjoyment at various stages of the game. The opposition, while challenging, is not insurmountable. Once the adventure is complete, a number of potential aftermah scenarios are presented, giving the DM some guidance in terms of where the campaign might go from here.

In addition to the campaign itself, The Gleaming Cloud Citadel contains a number of new spells that are well designed, interesting, and add a new layer of utility to arcane magic without stepping outside of the narrative role of such spells, or becoming grossly overpowered.

I cannot recommend this HIGHLY enough. One of the finest adventures on the Guild!

This has everything that a D&D adventure should have. Monsters leaping out of dark places, traps where players might not suspect them, puzzles to solve, treasures to be won and NPCs to help out - if approached in the right way. But what stood out for me when I reviewed the early draft were the intrigues going on among the wizards of the Gleaming Cloud Citadel. If your players like getting involved in uncovering and decrypting the grudges and motives of NPCs waging a cold war with each other then this is the adventure for you. Much polished since then - love that cover, by the way - well worth the cost given the work that's gone into this. I hope it does well.

Golden Years - that's what this adventure reminds me of! I was taken back to my childhood, crawling through dungeons with magic in the air and mystery just around the corner. While this alone make this supplement worth buying for me, I feel I must list out its other merits as well - amazing cover art, fully fleshed-out NPCs to make life easier for the DM, homebrew spells, a logical and straightforward layout, and links to their website to download digital versions of the maps, and of course, the creativity and hard work put into this supplement. Some further enhancements like a print-friendly version and some tighter editing would definitely make this gem of an adventure shine better, but it already has so much going for it by balancing old-school charm and nostalgia with the refinement and elegance and polish of the current edition of the game.

Brilliant Adventure! ( Get that reference?)
