I ran this in context of a post-Tomb Of Annihilation home game, with a couple of minor changes to fit our ongoing stoyline.

This is a good module for roleplay, with colorful NPCs and a player character who gets infected with strange visions. Lots of potential for collaborative storytelling if that's your thing. There isn't much in the way of exploration (other than a secondary mystery if you count that) in the fairly linear story. You get some decent combats, with a challenging "boss," but I'm not a fan of the way the latter can use banishment to potentially take two characters completely out of the fight.

As fun as the roleplay can be, the adventure progression does feel a little forced; "I have information you need if you do me the favor of killing this monster" feels a little trite. However, it does feed the tier 3 post-Tomb of Annihilation storyline (which isn't as cohesive as the tier 4 one), it's still a lot of fun, and the prep isn't too demanding.

The adventure was quite nice, has the 3 pillars for adventures: RP, combat, and a bit of exploration.

The travel time though negates some of the dangers of the journey, since they can do long rests in between

by itself a very bland quest but when played into the whole story is a beatifully thought out start to the t3 story

Unfortunately, this starts off as a simple fetch quest with the characters going to get information to be used later in another adventure. Then the opening encounter felt like padding added to reach the desired XP total or run time. It had no purpose being in this adventure since it neither advanced the story or depleted resources since the characters get a long rest after this encounter.

The second and third parts provide some great opportunities for roleplay as both the hags and the Ramshackle Court feature some interesting NPCs.

The final fight was a challenging one, especially if you modify the spell list of the archmage. Psychic Scream + Hellfire Orb make for a great opener to the fight. Maze the Paladin or the strongest looking melee striker. Pre-cast Mage Armor, Mirror Image, Fire Shield and Crown of Stars for the archmage, and use your reactions to Counterspell instead of using Shield.

Great start to tier 3 fun and challanging encounters with plenty of roleplay inbetween, most of the combat can be passed by, which is recommended for some. The final fight is well balanced and gives a good challange even for munchkin style characters.

So I finally got around to running this (our ToA DM got sick and missed 2 months, so we had to finished ToA before the party could play this, since once you play this you cannot re-enter ToA).

Nice introduction to how T3 is going to look this season, a lot bigger fights, but nothing a well equipped party can’t handle.

First fight is nothing other than a HP tank (something the T4’s this season suffered from), and with a near total ranged attack party (6/7 were not melee based, 4 casters and 2 archers) was no challenge at all.

Little bit of RP, certain factions had their chance to shine. This is something I fear will be missed moving forward next season, but that’s a discussion for another venue.

That fight had the chance to go south quickly, but the initiative order was against me and the biggest threat got dropped before he was able to use his other ability in round 2 (his giant AoE was nice, if he was able to catch the target with the other thing it would have turned nasty).

More RP interlude to set up the finale, was pretty straight forward and effective. Now I liked the set-up for the finale, the minions in particular I had fun with, but it was a lot of Con checks on everyone every turn, so it did get a little repetitive. Boss didn’t last as long as I would have liked, but a charging Paladin with smites, followed by swarms of Magic Missile tend to drop anyone quickly (unless they had the Shield spell, which Paladins/Anti-Paladins sadly don’t).

Some challenging combat encounters are balanced with cool roleplay sections, making this a cool introduction to life in Chult at T3.

I really liked this story. There was a lot of good storytelling and roleplaying; with some (mostly) good combat scenarios speckled in between. My only criticisms would be that there is some editing that still needs to be performed on the module and the first combat situation feels like a forced random encounter.

Quite enjoyed this one. The combat encounters are very interestingly done and have just the right level of challenge as well. NPCs have unique and fun personalities and the foreshadowing was done well enough. Adventure hook is a bit on the weak side but overall a fantastic module.
This one can also easily be finished in the estimated time, which ís another huge positive for me.

Great adventure. Heavy in combat and in socialisation, low in exploration. The notes for roleplaying the different characters and Soggy Wrenn is written true to form.
