Really did not enjoy DM'ng this and my players found it boring as well. But as a DM, it's mechanically sound. It felt very anti climactic and I get that it's a prequel mission but it just didn't do it fo rme.

Top notch maps. The full color is great. The details included really add something to playing on VTT. The cherry on top: Gail leaves simple, yet effective instructions for sizing them quickly on Roll20. I really can't recommend these enough.

Good intro series. Each mission was straightforward enough and the objectives were clear for the players.

I enjoy that everything was tied to a collecting parts of a myserious Amulet. It added some curiousity for the players and left them wanting to know more.

The adventures took place in all major parts of Prot Nyanzaru allowing me to introduce them. I used this mission as an intro into Tomb of annihilation with players pretty new to D&D in generaly, so the simple missions didn;t over burden the players and allowed the to feel out things they will be expeinces regualrly through out this adventure: dinosuars, traps, undead, etc.

The Mission involving the dinosuar race was a good intro to that mechanic.

Overall I was please with everything done in this set!

A pity the maps are only really usable for Roll20. Even worse is the fact that they don't follow the adventures at all. They look nothing like the maps in the actual adventure. I know the creator specified that they are based on descriptions, but I find them lacking and decided to create maps myself, which gave a much better result. It had potential though.

Really good. My players have been VERY complimentary of these maps and have commented several times how much it enriches their experience. Worth everyone's time and money, and I'm really excited for the next set for DDAL07-02. The only thing I'd suggest is updating the Mission 4 map where there are two encounters and it's not quite clear which area is intended for the first (nor the trap).

Fantastic Maps - Gail has outdone herself.

  1. The Maps are different from the ones in the module because these are desinged to augment the maps included - and this is great! Perfect example, mission 2 the include module map for Arena (part 2 of the mission) but nothing Race (part 1 of the mission) - the author has done an excellent job in combigning the maps into 1 - the race track around the center arena. This speeds the play of the game (less map transitions) and works well for the story.

  2. The Quality is top notch, the Online Maps for VTT come in grid or gridless - I found them very easy to import and align with Roll20s grids, the author has even included a nice little text file with all the relavant information to help you speed the map setup.

I don't use the print maps, but that's just me - a quick look shows that they are pretty high quality but I don't have any experneice printing and what they look like

If you take a few moments to digest the map and merry it up with the descriptions in the module you will find out that these maps work perfectly. You need to disregard the maps in the module to wrap your head around these but when you do it saves you a ton of prep time and makes the encounters much more vivid. I highly recommend!

Kudos to the creator, there were some issues with the original release, they corrected them within a day. With the addition of correctly sized PDFs that can be easily printed in poster format this is a 5 star product.

Very detailed maps, now I can run the encounters that didn't have a map in the original mod! The maps don't match Travis' (perhaps due to copyright issues?) but they are easy to use - and so colorful! A few combat areas are slightly smaller but I think players will use the terrain to their advantage - there's a ladder to a roof in the first map!

I was worried based on the other reviews but not only can I use these for the mod, I can also print the pdfs soon and use them for random encounters in private homebrew games.

A mixed set. First, the maps are all jpgs, including the print versions. The print versions are at "300dpi" but if printed at that scale give 2/3" to 5'; so will need to be printed at 200dpi to match the normal 1" to 5' scale. The lack of including PDF versions makes printing in poster style with a regular printer a chore, since it would involve setting a non-standard page size, printing to pdf, and then printing the pdf using poster style to get it to split across pages. Not a major issue if printing at a print shop with a large format printer.

Now for the maps themselves, graphically they are excellent. The detail is terrific. However, most combat areas are smaller than the maps in the module. This can either have a minor effect or in some cases is likely to constrain character mobility.

These maps are different from the maps in the module, with some missing whole areas. Disappointing.

These maps do not expand the maps that appear in the DDAL07-01 adventure, but they are in excellent graphic quality and ready for printing.

Very detailed guide on how to plot these maps in Roll20. The best choice for those looking for colorful grids for City on the Edge.
