Hi!
I'm a new DM, I've been a player for years but never really tried D&D (mostly Pathfinder, World of Darkness, Cthulhu, Summerland...etc.) before this. Bought the basic books for myself and my boyfriend since we both play. My players are mostly newbies too, 3 total noobs and my bf as the only experienced player to support others.
So. As a newbie DM I was looking for a free, straight-forward and easy to modify adventure. Temple of the Dragonknights provided all that it promised and more. Setup was smooth to get characters into the action... except our rogue who sat in the inn and watched whole first battle go on from the window. I didn't modify encounters since I wanted to see how the party handled them and kept them as they were almost whole adventure.
What I changed were mostly at the very last area. I blended last encounter with an encounter to come in a next adventure to create more fluent transition between stories. Venomfang had a change of name but players never got to hear it.. Not yet. Other changes were only for flavor, names, small encounters having bit of personality etc. To be honest, char and place names sound good in English but we speak Finnish and Venomfang translates... childisly... so I changed them to sound better considering our native tongue. So, we have Wendalian and Kuohuva Tuoppi inn.
We finished this adventure yesterday and I've got story linked to the next adventure but inbetween we'll have a short sidequest. If someones interested I can share how I linked two stories together later (I don't want my players accidentaly finding this review...). :)
