I always struggle pricing magic items and having a consistant pricing scheme in place. This Price Guide does all the hard work for me, as well has looking presentable. I also find it useful for high level one-shots, where you give your players a budget for magic items and they can just use this Price Guide.

At this point I would buy this product 5 times already, I don't have enough words to say how amazing this resource is.

I'm a person who is always struggling with pricing items, especially when it comes to magical items and running into issue where you cannot price all uncommon things the same, all rare things the same etc. There is a clear difference in power in many items of the same rarity, where some can feel very powerful with default price, others feel like you're paying too much...I have been using this recource for about 1-2 years now and it has been invaluable help for me.

The thing that stands out even more for me is the dedication put into this book, it is being constantly updated (while maybe not immediately) with recent additions and content. It could have covered just the base books, it could have included all the latest additions as a separate book for people to buy that, but instead all the work is being provided as a free update.

And just when you think there will be update with inclusion of 10-15 new magical items this mad lad goes ahead and adds stuff like random tables, sample merchants and guidelines to magical shops

The real question is not "How useful is this PDF?", but "Which bonehead at WOTC thought it was a good idea to not have this in the DMG in the first place?"

5/5. Pushing everyone I know who plays 5e to buy this.

While some of the prices are questionable (25gp for a cantrip spell scroll is less than is required to scribe it), this is ultimately a fantastic way to price the majority of items in the game. It solves many issues, such as the concept of consumables costing more than reusable items that have the same effect (seriously WotC what you were thinking with the potion of flying???). Even if you don't agree with the prices listed, they still set a fantastic precedent for grading item prices based on their tier and usability, rather than simple rarity.

Thanks! This guide is absolutely intended as a starting baseline, and DMs can and should tweak them as is appropriate for their setting and situation. Regarding your specific point on cantrip scrolls, I'll just point out that most casters can't simply copy the scroll into a book, and even for wizards, spending the time to actually scribe it will totally save them money in the long run (as it should be). But if they just want to cast it once? Buy a scroll, save some money.

My players constantly want to shop for potions and magical items. Thanks to this I have consistant, fair, pricing that I no longer have to make up on the fly.

Categorical and rarity sorting is great for ensuring that level and character appropriate loot just happens to show up in that dragon's hoard. A great deal of thought clearly went in to this, especially the tweaks for items that deserve non-standard pricing. This helps me feel like I'm not making up random numbers in shops, and keeps me from having to remember what those random numbers were next time the party is back at another shop.

It was so useful for quick prices in a randomly-generated dungeon crawl (with a teleport trap to a magic item shop) that I came back and bought it a second time, just to support continuing work on this project.

This has a permanent place in my DM binder.

A wonderful reference for new DMs that aren't sure of the practical applications of each individual item yet and don't feel comfortable making the judgement call!

I'm one of those DM's who allow the players to buy and sell magical items and even order some made if they can find the materials for it. This is definitely my go-to list for prices, since figuring out the price for a given item within the rather large scope for each rarity type, is just too timeconsuming for me, and who can remember what they might have paid for something a year ago? So thank you so much for doing all the hard work for me :-)

This collects the existing source material suggested costs for magical items in an easy to read format. The author has made a few changes where suggested costs are completely absurd, but otherwise stuck to the suggestions offered in 5e D&D.

On the other hand, if you think the suggested costs are fundamendally flawed (and I do!), then although well formatted, this won't be much use. The main problem with suggested costs is that they are based entirely on rarity, not on how useful an item is. As an example, winged boots and a broom of flying - arguably the best items at their rarity level - has a suggested value of 500 and 450 gp, while the much less useful Boots of Levitation have a suggested value of 4,500 gp, Wings of Flying, $3,600 gp, and even a POTION of Flying has a suggested value of 2,500 gp!
