I ran it and it was a blast. It felt like being in a christmas movie. Especially the beginning. The adventure was very inspiring for me as a DM and so I loved putting it in my campaign and expanding on some ideas a little bit.

I used this adventure to get into DMing for the first time and I'll say, it was the absolute perfect start for me. Easy to understand and modify to your heart's content, and very friendly to new DMs and players alike!

Played this with my full family during my last Christmas break. One had played D&D a few times, one had a general idea but never played, and both my parents had never played any sort of RPG. Everyone was enganged and had fun, and the campaign was fairly easy to set up and prepare, which is great for a holiday themed thing that many, such as me, might want to not take a lot of my precious family time to isolate and prepare.

There might not be many twists and there might be a bit of railroading, but honestly I think that's exactly what you need for such a thing. Fun to play, quick to prepare, easy to run, reasonable duration, and enough hooks to integrate into a campaing if you wanted to.

I really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it as something fun to play with begginners and/or people that want to play a quick game that, all at once, feels fairly D&Dish and also fairly Christmas-y.

I ran this over the holidays with my family a couple years ago. The descriptive poetry of the cabin still sticks in my head today. Very well written and I hope to run it again for friends one day!

It is an interesting adventure, but it needs a lot of work on its layout and format.

That's fair, something that I'm thinking more about now than I did when this was written.

Great module, ran it for a one-shot, for two fairly new players and one new player. They all enjoyed it, which is the main thing!

A few criticisms are that it does seem a bit hard for first-level new players. There were 3 players and they were fighting one Frost elemental, which means they actually had an easier time of it than if there had been four of them vs2 elementals, yet the elemental took down two of them in that fight. Also with the the constant fights with very little opportunity to rest between them, due to the dangers of resting (which I really like) I'm pretty sure my party would have wiped if I had played the Mark resting rules, however I didn't actually see them until I scroll down below his boss battle. I think that a better placement for those resting rules would be be above the Mark boss battle, but as I said it's perhaps a good thing that I didn't see them because it really does seem quite hard. I actually allowed my players to level up after beating the elemental because of how hard they were finding it.

Also for the skill checks in climbing the mountain, not allowing repeats of the same skill, and requiring proficiency we got to the situation where we really didn't have have any skills to use any more, we had in essence run out of skills! In the end I allow the rogue to succeed on a skillcheck of persuasion because there didn't seem to be any other option! We played it off as them motivating the others.

I did really like the scaling for parties of different sizes though, that was great!

Cheers

This was the very first game I was a DM for nearly 2 years ago and had 6 players; 2 new, and 4 kind of new. It was simple enough for me to follow back then with no issue with lots of room for improv and fun. It really helped me get a grasp on what it was like to run a game while keeping it fun and themed!

Brilliant little adventure! This was my first time DM-ing and was really clear and helpful as to how the items, creatures, and characters worked, as well as fun poems to read out to players. I played this 1-on-1 with a single player, and have just started it with a larger group of 1st level characters. They all love it!!

Ran this for a mixed group (first timers and fairly seasoned players). They enjoyed it. As a DM, this was VERY easy to run, everything I needed was right there on the page. I think for a new DM this would be a great first time adventure.

I appreciated that the instructions to scale it up for difficulty (adding more easy monsters) were right there on the page. Other than a quick read through the morning before we played I didn't have to do much prep, which was exactly what I was looking for.

One of the best casual adventures I have gone through. Hosted it about 4 times and every group loved the game.

I just heard about this module from Pinterest and must say it looks awesome! I can't wait to run it for some friends that have never played DND before! Keep up the goods work!

Played it with two players (half-orc barbarian and dwarf druid) who've never played before - they loved it! It's a Christmas setting technically, but I played it in January by simply changing the filled stockings into presents they got via mail.

After they robbed the inn, made their way up the mountain by strapping the dwarf onto the half-orc's back, defeated Mark and burned his whole house down for good measure, I chased them out of Ambershandy via a lumberjack militia. Good times!

I ran this as an introductory adventure for two players completely new to RPGs (plus one veteran) and they loved it. Highly recommended!
