I'm currently planning a Hoard of the Dragon Queen Campaign and this ToD guide has been a godsend. Every time I prep through a chapter, I cross-check my notes with this guide to see how it could be done easily or to help make sense of things. Usually if I read something in the adventure and it seems confusing, this guide has it spelled out. Great work! :)

UPDATE 11/2021: After benefitting from this guide, I was compelled to come back here & toss a few more bucks to Sean for his superb work. I would encourage others to leave a $ tip to any contributor here that adds to the enjoyment of their campaign. We're fortunate to have such passionate gamers willing to share their efforts & tools with the rest of us!

Blindly downloaded this for our DM months ago, and he still talks about how helpful it's been as we work thru the campaign. And the party is delighted, as we're having a blast! Thank you for this guide. When we start a different campaign, we will defininitely be checking out your other guides. :)

This is one of two guides that helped a lot when running Tyranny of Dragons. Without these guides the game would have been a real struggle.

This looks great. I had just finished ready the final chapter of Rise of Tiamat and was a little underwhelmed, unsure of the purpose of gathering the factions troops in the first place. I really like your suggestions for running this final battle and intend to use them, thank you.

I'm running this campaign for the first time this week, and this guide is SO HELPFUL. It's a little confusing since I haven't read all the way through Rise, but I love that the first chapter notes are making Rise relevant already. I've already got inspiration. Thank you!

I ran both Hoard of the Dragon Queen & Rise of Tiamat and this guide was very helpful. It's especially so with some of the trickier and more abstract sections of the campaign books, like both the Castle sequences in Hoard, the Council meetings in Rise, and the final chapter in the campaign. I would recommend the guide for anyone running either of these campaigns.

Hi guys,

I'd like to start by saying that I read this author's blog before, so most of what was written I had already previously read. I'm currently about to run The Xontal Tower and the last chapter will be the only thing left to do (my party already went to thay and etc.)

I see many things in this pdf that greatly enlighten DMs, the author gives alternatives to some pain points that make no sense or are really hard to run; as well as good and creative ideas to make the published adventure more interesting. (For example, I loved the second cult assassination attempt with the beggar)

I still see, however, things that make no sense to me in the book and that are not addressed here. For example, On Rise of the Metalic Dragons, my players struggled a lot to find enough motivation to want convince the dragons. As they are somewhat strong now and started getting cocky; there's also the fact that the dragons call the players to make really steep demands that have (mostly) nothing to do witht the players.

Overall, it is very good material for any DM who wants to run Tyrany of Dragons, or even just part of it. Eventhough it didn't cover all my doubts, it gave me a big hand.
