So now that I've read and run through this module a few times, I have to say it isn't one of my favorites. The module has very loose ties to the rest of the series and ultimately feels like a bunch of random encounters without a payoff. There is very little at stake for the players and you hae to stretch to help them know where or why they are going where they are going. This can all be adjusted with a lot of DM empowerment of course but I fail to see how a module without some sort of final encounter/choice/debate/puzzle provides closure for players. The purpose of the tower in the module is interesting and builds on some older lore but the way the players explore and interact with the lore is lackluster and restrictive. I'm not sure why, when given the options of entering through the top or ground floor of the tower that the "big bad guys" are on the middle floor. This forces the encounter before the players can explore the entire complex.

Another review indicates there are a series of linear combats and that's certainly true leading up the tower, which is the "dungeon." However, the tower itself provides plenty of creative and tactical opportunities to challenge tier 2 characters.

A natural inclination for tier 2 is to go investigate the top of the unfinished tower and thats where the fun can really start. I have run this twice now and both times I've had a paladin get from the ground to the top, find out what's waiting for the party, and then crater the ground below due to the sudden stop after the fall.

I do wish that the internals of the tower were better fleshed out as the first two floors several room descriptions are repeated and feel like filler time.

A fairly linear set of combat encounters, blandly spiced with some minor exploration in the "dungeon". The only reason I ran it at all was because of the way it ties the first and third parts of the trilogy together. Otherwise, would not recommend.
