So much flavor and fun - it's a melee class that has a lot going on under the hood which is just what I love!

I've always enjoyed playing classes that revolve around Martial Arts or just straight up punching people in the face, and Tavern Brawler has been one of those Feats I love to have even if it isn't always mechanically the strongest. Before I'd play Monks, Barbarians, Fighters with the newer Unarmed Fighting Style or a mixture of these, but the Pugilist brought me all I was looking for and more! Really awesome class that I cannot wait to play a ton!

I really liked this from a DM's perspective. My player wanted was new to the game and wanted a tanky character who punched things and couldn't find it RAW so he googled something and found this. I really like how the abilities are not too different from many of the fighter abilities or the monk abilities and feels like a blending of the two classes without over crowding. All the subclasses feel very diverse and just give a very satisfying and punchy character.

Well-balanced and lots of fun to play. Been wanting to play as a brawler-type character but didn't want to go the Monk route and this Pugilist class is perfect for it.

I have really enjoyed this class so far! I see one review gave this a 1-star: ridiculous! That dm clearly struggles with balancing and it's 100% on them.
FINALLY a tanky alternative to the monk- this class lets you REVEL in high str high con. My favorite part is it is mechanically benificial to be in the front line taking hits, losing hp! Your super power is getting the absolute piss knocked out of you, and it just makes you stronger!
You have a strong incentive to GET hit, while having a lower AC than the monk and weaker dps than the fighter, and lower hp than the barbarian balances the abilities the pugilist gets. This class is great fun and easily worth the 6$ while still heavily depending on being part of the team. For example I still heavily depend on our ranged fighters, and great weapon master backup since at most by level 8 i can do 4d8 + 20 (36avg, 4 attacks) versus our great weapon masters' 4d6 + 30 (42avg, 2attacks) so its actually quite balanced!
Also beautiful art, GREAT subclasses with a lot of RPG potential, well written, well organized. They are given a lot of abilities but some of them are so situational that honestly, your probably not going to use them at all.
This class is a tank with limited dps ability but very fun and flexible moxie abilities that really make you feel like a cage fighter (I would know lol). Very fun and a strong front-liner for any situation. And finally a good candidate for the Durable feat- with a +5 con each hit die yeilds +15 hp on a short rest so your pugilist can easily go back to full fury from 1hp so get in there, and get swinging!!

i love all the themes for the subclasses and the entire core of what this class entails. It gives players the punchy boy they want where the monk was never made to cater to. so now i can have a monk and a pugulist be the best of freinds.

This class feel like what a lot of people want out of monk, and it does it well.

This class is absolutely broken. I have no idea how no one has given it a less than stellar review. It is so OP because of so many reasons. Too many abilities come back at a short rest instead of long. You can easily punch 4 times in one round every single round of combat. EVERY SINGLE ROUND. Not even a CR23 level monster has a multiattack over 3. Not to mention the oversaturation of abilities. Why is this so long? Who needs this many abilities to punch things?
Yes, I am salty because I allowed a player to use this class in my game; he's used it for about 2 years now, and he absolutely destroys any combat encounter. It's just not even fun next to classes that are official WOTC.
Do not use this if you want to keep your sanity.

Great well balanced class, I've been looking around fo something like this for a while. Nice and playable with a unique feel, not just a rehashed monk or swordless fighter.

The document is smoothly-made, reads great, lovely formatting, etc. The content makes me do a jig every time I read through it. The rock-em-sock-em aesthetic of Pugilists, the punchy-punchy feel of a Monk not just divorced from the Eastern aesthetic but given its own life... this is a great class. If you are considering buying this, I say go for it. Really neat option to present players with, with great archetypes.

An incredibly well desiged class with a lot of polish and TLC, it offeres an alternative to the monk without being a clone or a reskin. I have been following this class since it's debut in 2016 and it's only grown in quality as the years have gone by, ageing like a fine wine if you will. I struggle to even find things that I dislike about the class, with a large selection of subclasses and now (with the Adamantine award update) featuring some backstory assists with new tables, I trully believe this to be one of the best pieces of content out there.
I have a video on my channel which goes into details about what the class offeres as well as why you should buy it. If you're interested, here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKds9Yye0mg
Lastly, I'd like to thank Benjamin for the amazing work he produces and the great inspiration he gives the community. Keep being awesome!

The more i read this class the more i love it. It's balanced, incredibily inspired and a lot of fun to play. No wonder it's Adamantine.

My favorite, I believe "mature" enough as I amaturelly boxed in Golden Globes in Rapid City, SD, a leading positive influence in our town, in our life, along with a ton of champion Souix Nation Indians. (THEM)
