This document wasn't really full of 'encounters' moreso than it was a list of short events that you can pepper in amongst the pre-existing random encounter tables. There's about a 50/50 split between spooky events and 'good' events, in an attempt to add a little positivity to the bleak Ravenloft atmosphere.

The most dangerous monster encounter is with a CR 1/4 Zombie, so if you're trying to challenge your players, this won't do it.

For free though, it's not like you're throwing money away by taking a read-through, and if you figure it's worth something, throw the author some cash after.

A well done product for Ravenloft DMs. Some ideas can be stretched to whole adventures.

My only regret is that I didn't have this resource from the beginning of our Curse of Strahd campaign. Some of our most memorable moments came from these encounters, which fit beautifully into the atmosphere and world, especially the ones that have a delightful sense of dark humor. Fantastic content and a great way to help keep traveling through Barovia spooky without getting repetitive!

Ya this thing is rad. You know it's good when you get DM-giddy just by reading a couple. I'd use 90% of them without changing a thing and almost all of them inspire me to do other things in the campaign. Nicely done!

Theres an encounter here for every kind of player, each with their own delightful barovian twist, and i'm still not sure which encounter is my favorite.

These are all excellent and incredibly evocative of the Barovian atmosphere. My party encountered 'The Little Girl Lost' which ended up with one of them being possessed by her ghost and thrown off a cliff

Hugh McCluskey's Encounters in the Mists contains 20 additional random encounters appropriate for a Curse of Strahd or other gothic horror-themed campaign. The short supplement is rife with spelling and grammatical errors, as well as often using unclear mechanics that require interpretation (for example: "dc 8 fear check," probably a Wisdom saving throw?). That being said, several of these encounters seems like a lot of fun, and I'm certainly going to include 11 of these (Morning Song, Blood to Bone, The Devil Has Appeared, Help Out a Friend?, A Lovers Parting Gift, An Ill Omen, Good Fortune, Well in the Dark, Cabin in the Woods, The Little Girl Lost, & A Loyal Companion) as random encounter options in my upcoming Curse of Strahd game!

This supplement is simply great! Each part caused a chill, especially "Blood to the bone" I recommend it widely, and I hope there are more parties, I would be very interested to read them.

An excellent group of encounters that can greatly add to your Ravenloft adventure. I can safely say that all of these add to the fun of the adventure and are in spirit with the source material. Anyone wishing to add some additional flare to their Curse of Strahd adventure should take a look at this. It is EXCEPTIONAL!

20 random encounters to throw into your Curse of Strahd campaign. Mostly there are short, creepy things that can take place while the party is travelling. There are a few combat encounters and some interesting NPC ideas here as well. There's some typos and aside from the cover no artwork, and some encounters are more fleshed out than others. But these encounters will definitely give you ideas for ways to add in some more creepiness. I'll definitely have this at the table when I run CoS.
