A classic advenutre! I am running players through this dungeon right now (with 5th edition convertions). Has all the feel of the old school dungeon you WANT.

Only gripe I have is that the map scans are awful! They are low-res, blurry and the map appears in pieces (multiple pages in the PDF). It is a challenge to figure out how the pieces of the map all link together. Once you understand where each piece of the map links to, it continues to be a challenge as you reference the map while playing. For an adventure that relies on an extremely complex and intricate map, it is VERY challenging to run this adventure while referring to the terrible maps in this PDF. I tried looking for other places to get the maps for this, but they are out of print (or for sale on Amazon at over $100!). So there isn't any option but to use the maps they have in this PDF for the adventure.

Hopefully they have a re-scan of the maps in the future like they have done with a few other products I have seen. It is the only reason I have not given this product 5 stars. Because otherwise, this is a really fun adventure.

One dungeon to rule them all...

I owned the box set but seeing a show I left my AD&D stuff behind in a move. My gaming ahs evolved over the years into less hack and slash games but sometimes there is an itch that needs to be scratched. The dungeon is quite large and has quite a lot of character. This is not a death trap like Tomb of Horrors, and while it has the reputation of being dangerous (certainly deserved) it's not over the top.

One thing people usually don't expect is the amount of detailed rooms. There is a large amount of rooms already detailed but a fair bit is left for you to fill (or leave empty) at whim. Personally I don't have a problem for this but some people want a fully detailed dungeon. The first level is more detailed then the second and third levels.

The scan quality is quite good and all the additional cards (Trap cards, miscellaneous effects) are in there.

This is by far the biggest dungeon crawl quest, produced by TSR, & its actually not bad, the only down side is some of the maps were not the best but I ended purchassing the full set again from Ozone.

LIKED: Its a Cult Classic

DISLIKED: Maps were not the best, but from what I recall, the poster size originals were massive, & there was a stack of them.

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Satisfied
The Ruins of Undermountain is a massive dungeon crawl (the maps are huge) with space for the DM to add stuff, or just use the random tables for dungeon dressing, encounters, and treasure. Included are adventures and hooks (or ideas) which provide good material. The bookmarks are quite good, and the scan quality is good as well.

Although it shouldn't be too hard to take Undermountain as a dungeon and use it in your own setting, it has a lot of "character" or special aspects that you may want to tweak to not make it too obvious a transplant.

LIKED: Good scan and bookmarks, good material in the base product.

DISLIKED: Nothing seemed to be lacking, although maybe there was a bit too much dependence on another product, Waterdeep and the North.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Very Satisfied
