Shin Tarrasque

ADD TO WISHLIST >

We’ve all been there. The Party has just saved the kingdom from a terrible villain, you had an amazing capstone fight, all the loose ends were tied up…and the party wants to keep playing their characters. But everything is saved, no villains wait in the wings, no disasters threaten the world! The GM struggles to find something to throw everything back into chaos so the party has a reason to keep fighting the good fight! Struggle no longer. This adventure is my gift to that ailing GM: the perfect reminder to your level 8 party that they are not in fact “hot stuff.” All joking aside, this adventure functions as an action-packed intermission between major story arcs, a sudden reminder to a party of heroes that there are things out there that they can’t face head-on. And what better to give them that reminder than one of D&D’s most fearsome and infamous monsters?

The Tarrasque is a behemoth of insane proportions, destroying everything in its path and resisting most magical effects that come its way, to the point of sometimes reflecting those spells back on the caster. Easy comparisons can be drawn to kaiju of pop culture, and this adventure, inspired by IPs such as Shin Godzilla and Cloverfield, does quite the same. This setting agnostic adventure can be placed in any coastal city your party cares about (preferably one they spent a lot of time in over the first eight levels) and is optimized for a party of four level 8 characters. Enjoy!

CREATOR
I wanted a fun adventure with Big Chungus that felt like a kaiju film and wasn't crazy high level! Couldn't find one and watched Shin Godzilla four times in a row and wrote this in a fever state and the rest is history!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
