The Map of the Flanaess

This map is inspired by the amazing 1980 World of Greyhawk map by darlene.  Included are Jpeg and PNG formatted versions ready for print or use with your favorite VTT.

Unlabeled versions are also included so DMs can customize the map to fit their campaigns.

The maps are 12296 x 9320 pixels.

Locations on the map are accurate for the World of Greyhawk in the year 576CY.  Like the original, no dungeon locations are shown on the map.

** Flanaess 2024 version added.  This map is almost identical except the new 2024 names have been added.  The new names align with the 2024 DMG version while all the additional locations of the older maps are still present.

No AI was used in the creation.

This is really awesome! Are you at all planning to do any follow ups to this? I'd really like a 'From The Ashes' era map that I could use for my AD&D group.

To be honest I never owned From the Ashes and am not familiar with the changes. Not saying it's not possible but it wasn't on my radar before. I will look into it when I get a chance.

May I suggest a map including the rest of Oerik on this or another product in the future?

Thanks for the suggestion. I know there are some others out there working on detailing the rest of Oerik. I will leave it to them as they are much more versed in the expanded world than I am. My goal with this was to make a faithful recreation of the Flanaess as presented in 576CY. I can't wait to see what what others come up with for other areas.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
