D&D 2024 SOLO:

CASTLE RAVENLOFT

TATYANA’S REVENGE

A D&D 2024 Solitary Character Adventure

Optimized For: A Level 9 Character

A Castle Ravenloft Capstone Quest

The master of Ravenloft is entertaining guests for a Blood Moon Masquerade—

and you weren’t invited…

Welcome to Castle Ravenloft: Tatyana’s Revenge, a Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) 2024 5th-edition solo quest gamebook.  This horror adventure is intended for an 8th to 10th-level solitary player character. A Dungeon Master (DM) is not required to play.

The Core Rulebooks (Player’s Handbook, Monster Manual, and Dungeon Master’s Guide) and the Curse of Strahd (CoS) Sourcebook are required to run this adventure. As always, while not required, Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft (VRGtR) is a strongly recommended horror resource.

Make sure that you have access to the following physical or digital (virtual) items:

  • Tatyana’s character sheet (included) or a character of 8th to 10th-level of your own development (an incarnation of Tatyana (any gender, species, or background)). This gamebook assumes that your character is not evil-aligned.
  • The Core Rulebooks (Player’s Handbook, Monster Manual, and Dungeon Master’s Guide) and the Curse of Strahd (CoS) Sourcebook will be useful references. All links to these external sources in this gamebook are connected to D&D Beyond.
  • A complete set of physical or virtual D&D dice.
  • A complete set of table-top (TT) or virtual table-top (VTT) maps of Castle Ravenloft. There are plenty of TT/VTT map sources on DM's Guild, Roll20, etc. Maps are not provided in this gamebook.
  • Miniatures, tokens, or virtual tokens that represent your character, creatures, monsters, and NPCs.
  • A Tarokka deck, virtual Tarokka deck, or regular playing cards to substitute for a Tarokka deck.

Version 1.0. This version incorporates elements from the D&D 2024 Player's Handbook.

Version 1.1 Added missing return to location links in a few Roleplay Entries. 10/12/2024

Version 1.2: Minor editorial changes. 10/26/2024

Version 1.3: Replaced DMG 2014 links with DMG 2024 links. 11/2/2024

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
