Welcome to the Wanderer: a Crawlspace Sourcebook

Visit a wildspace system unlike any other- Crawlspace, the domain of Wasserbär, a living "planet" that is known as the Wanderer by its inhabitants. Older than the Crystal Spheres, possibly older than the gods, the Wanderer is a great astral beast many millions of miles across, orbited by two suns and three moons. To the people on its surface, their planet stretches on forever, one seemingly endless biome after another displaying a great diversity of life. To arcane sages and historians of other wildspace systems, the Wanderer has a name: WasserbärThis sourcebook allows a DM to play a Survivalist campaign using Wasserbär the Wanderer as their setting. Some legends concerning the Wanderer say that the Crystal Spheres which once contained and separated wildspace systems were created to prevent this ancient astral beast from destroying the gods’ Creations by trapping it in the Rainbow Ocean. During the Spellplague, the Astral Plane contracted from its previous tree-like structure, collapsing onto the Prime Material plane. The Astral Dominions at the end of its branches came crashing with it and the Astral merged with the Phlogiston, becoming the Astral Sea we know today. This process also somehow destroyed the crystal spheres, their absence leaving all wildspace systems open to the inadvertant ravages of this gentle giant.

Wasserbär’s gentle existence is at odds with its mark on the wildspace systems it passes through, its immense mass threatening to tear celestial bodies from their positions in the cosmos. Strips of rubbery "land" separate its biomes, often clouded by a phlogiston-reminiscent Rainbow FogDespite its gentle appearance, the Rainbow Fog is extremely flammable and is incredibly dangerous- an excretious byproduct from Wasserbär’s consumption of great swathes of the infinite Rainbow Ocean- injesting the raw elemental magic that is Phlogiston for eons untold. Wasserbär, the Wanderer is a central location featured in our next Spelljammer/Planescape epic, the Voidfarers Guide to the Verse Vol 5: Rise of the Rifters! The villains and locations within this book will be important to that upcoming adventure, but with its great scale, we believe Wasserbär deserved its own separated sourcebook rather than being just a chapter of someone else's story. With more than 200 pages, there is enough material inside this sourcebook for a creative DM to run multiple prehistoric campaigns, starting with the provided Intro Adventures for many of the prehistoric playable races. The cover price will reflect that this is but one thick chapter in the fifth volume of the Voidfarers Guide adventure epic, and we invite you to enjoy a brutal survival campaign in the world of -1,000,000 YEARS DR while we finish crafting that intergalactic science-fantasy tale!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
