I have Dmed this. I used Quantum Leap tv show to help out the module. Place the PCs in unknown lords bodies but have them use their own stats.
The library which is the scene of main plot and bonus objective is describe either 30 by 30 or 30 by 35 which changes the location. Author has stated it should be to right of the staircase.
Other than Editing problems, this is railroad. No matter what the pcs do they can't change history. (In my game they did.)
Suggestions. Have one or two NPC be time travelers too. Especially Malcar. Promote Morlin to Captain of King's Guard. Have Memp be one of evil guards or Shoon 4 seneschal. Have the head cook met with adventurers somehow if they don't hit the kitchen.
My table comment was to replace the cook book with a frying pan. No one believe the book would be in library.

Why aren't the maps labelled? This is the second adventure this season where rooms on the are not indicated on the maps given. Yes I can work around it figure where things are, but wastes my time prepping the adventure on something that should been done on the first place.

Where is the library? The maps aren't keyed so I was going by the room size descriptions and had it pegged as the room in the southwest corner. But I watched a recording of an online game that someone ran and the map showed it as the room in the direct center of the house directly west of the throne room. I think it was a Roll20 map.

I'm pretty confident based on room sizes and descriptions that the library is in the Southwest, next to the banquet hall which is in the West, followed by the kitchen in the Northwest and the servants quarters to the right of that (although I can't figure out why the servants quarters would have windows facing the street and the garden, and have double doors. The description also calls it a "3 foot by 10 foot room" which I'm guessing is a typo for "30 foot by 10 foot room"). The ballroom is in the Southeast, East of the library. Across from the double doors of the ballroom are the double doors to the throne room. The solarium is East of the throne room and the parlor is West of the throne room.

And not to nit pick, but why couldn't North be facing the top of the page? Why did everything have to be shifted 90 degrees clockwise???

The biggest issue with this module is that there is no wrap up. The characters should come back to the present and see that the Blackstaff is clearly exhausted by keep up the ritual. That could be further stated as to why she herself cannot go back and investigate, because she is needed here to keep the ritual going and that she will give them as much time as possible to find this "wrinkle" and why the ring resonates at the same frequency. It could also explain WHY they were not able to get that information, because Blackstaff could not maintain the ritual and they were sucked out as they were making there escape.

Just my two cents on how you can tighten up a module that has a lot of promise but falls a bit short on execution in several key points.

Also one of the best additions I've added to the trilogy and helps to explain the characters minds going backwards, but not body, is having the players roll a d100 and using the table for reincarnate to see what "body" the inhabit. They still retain all the racial features/traits of their characters but it makes for some hilarious moments in game and I think the players really enjoyed it.

Because one of the biggest questions that I was asked at the start of 8-4 was "how do we interact with things if our mind is being projected but not our body" And i came up with that answer on the fly. No mechanical benefit BUT again some fun moments.

After reading through this adventure I have quite a few questions that maybe we can fix together.

1. As the adventure states this is a mental projection what happens if one of the adventurers die. If no official answer comes up I’ll have the players wake up in the black staff tower with no possibility to rejoin the party until they make the next time jump.

1.1 Why do they get sent to DR130, as this is not the time when Hillanther created the ring, he states in the adventure that this is a ring he made some time ago?

2. It seems to me that there is some info missing on the ring. The only info the module offers is that Hillather have made it some time ago. When did he make it, who did he make it to, is it one of the Quisarian rings or is it just a Shoon ring?

3. Why does the ring resonates in the weave as this wrinkle in present day Waterdeep? No where is it described how this anomaly has transferred to the ring.

4. As the Blackstaff states that...See more

The way I understand it, is that they found the Wrinkle in the Weave and then they found items that also resonated at the same frequency. The Blackstaff doesn't know why this is but she has 3 items (ring, javelin, and cloak) that all do so. So she decided to try the ring first and besides find out the creator is present in that time in history there really isn't much else to learn.

So then in DDAL08-05 she tries the javelin. They are not projected as far this time and they find that the Javelin belonged to the Warlord. And then lastly she tries the cloak and that leads the party to the Wrinkle Tree and the physical manifestation of the anomaly as well as the cultists. The party discover the physical manifestation and return with this knowledge so then the Blackstaff can send other back to study it.

I've found the trilogy works best when the PCs come back to the present at the end of each module. I've also described the Blackstaff as being physically exhausted maintaining the ritual....See more

I was surprised that this entire series of adventures didn't have the Item Unlock cards that DDAL08-01 through DDAL08-03 did.

Is it intentional that it doesn’t have an ending to lead us into 08-05? No description of the described meeting on the outskirts of after the escape?

I don't have insider info but the previous DDAL trilogy was similar. The next module in the series likely will deal with where they end up. I dont agree with it but that's what it was last time.

Nope. Our group has that too. Just starts up in the next time period. The description of Chapter 3 says that you meet some characters outside of town once you escape, but it isn’t there.

Yeah, it’s missing the “Wrap-Up” description that you get in the other modules and goes straight to adventure rewards.

Yeah I found the "conclusion" or lack there of rather confusing. There's no end point to which I'm supposed to guide the story towards. Sure I get S8 seems to be more open ended but at least make that clear that the DM is supposed to fill in the gaps. I had to reread it a few times because I thought I missed something.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
