Character Record Sheets for A6 Format Binders

OCD&D anyone?

You have the weird habit of cluttering your character sheet with all kinds of information, that may never become relevant in the whole campaign? You are constantly running out of space on your original A4 or Letter sized character record sheet, and are tired of your messy collection of character amendments on loose paper? Then this character sheet is for you. This PDF features a plethora of character pages to outline and customize the D&D character of your dreams, and tidily collect every possible aspect in a space-saving A6 format binder. Instructions of how to use the sheet with transparent sleeves, and non-permanent acetate-sheet markers are included. The design allows you to add optional pages for your character's individual needs. This includes double-sided pages for every single character class from the PHB, separate pages for magic and spells, as well as utility pages, such as a journal, and a list of important NPCs. Multiclassing just requires to add another page to the binder, plus you can easily look up new class features for the next level, without consulting the handbook. All pages are form-fillable (for permanent entries like character name and background), and it is even possible to upload portraits for your character and his/her companion creature (another optional page) into the PDF. Even fillable Lists of known spells, as well as inventories of equipment are packed in this powerful document. Check it out and pack your favorite characters in an A6 format binder!

Pro tip: If you rather have the sheets in A5 format - in order to being able to read its contents more clearly - just print the A4 pages of the PDF on A3 size paper with a scaling factor of 141%.

Update April 30th 2018: corrected the Monk sheet. Martial Arts goes up to a D6 at 5th level now, as it should have from the start.

Update May 2nd 2018: corrected Passive Investigation tool-tip pop-up text. Added a version in higher resolution (300dpi) for you guys who want to print out the character sheet significantly bigger (e.g. on A3 paper for A5 cards).

Update May 3rd 2018: added PDFs with single pages of the character sheets and the class sheets in high resolution. That way you should be able to scale the sheet up to any size of your convenience (A5, A4, A3, Letter), and even use letter sized paper for printout.

OkieDokie...
Do you need it to be letter size?

Open up the PDF; in the upper left corner, click on Edit. About halfway down click on Take a Snapshot. Blow up your PDF image 300 or 400%, start in the upper left corner and drag the box down to the lower right corner and unclick. Open Paint, paste and voila!, you have a picture of your document. Save it (Paint has several formats available, I use JPG) in a folder.
Now open Word, being across the pond, it opens in letter size (8 1/2 x 11) for me. Using the drawing funtions, click Insert, then Shapes, and select the rectangle. Once again, starting at the top left corner, drag the box down to the lower right corner and you now have a box 8 1/2" x 11".
Right click in the box, down at the bottom of the window it'll say Format AutoShape. Click that, click on Fill Effects, then Picture, then Select Picture and now you will have to find the folder where you put your document, double click on that, hit OK twice in the two windows and...See more

Great work. You are very talented graphic artist. I would love to see a Dungeon Master Journal in a similar style. Don't know why I'm not flagged as a purchaser?

I am happy that you like my work. As for your DM's journal suggestion, I will probably start with fillable Monster/Bestiary sheets. Your feedback is highly appreciated.

I would also love to see a DM style Journal! Things that I can think of would be form-fillable d20 / d100 sheets for random tables, pages for important NPCs, location overview, Session notes. You have a wonderful style and I can't wait to see new content you create.

Great suggestions Ben. But being a one-man-show, this may take a littel while, before it's being forged into a publishable version. Thanks for your patronage and your patience. ;)

Passive Investigation popup hint talks about Passive Perception. Should that be 10 + Int mod + Misc?

Thank you for pointing this error out to me. It will be corrected in the next update. I apologize in advance for the errors still in the product. As a one-man-show I often worked late to get the PDF finished, which resulted in sub-perfect pop-up texts. This will hopefully be taken care of in future versions of Character Record Sheets for A6 Binders.

Beautiful Sheet. I love all the extra info. Is there any chance for an A5 size in the future. Some of the finer print on the A6 is just to small to read even with glasses.

The good news is, you can have A5 sheets right away, if you have access to a printer capable of handling A3 paper. Just print out the A4 pages from the PDF with a 141% scaling factor on A3 paper. Here we go A5 character record sheets. Metric DIN formats rock! ;)

Bad news is I don't have access to a printer that can do that. Just to get the A4 paper i have to order it on Amazon since our local stores do not normally carry European paper sizes. I'm normally stuck with letter size or legal and I don't use legal size, it is to long for my purposes and does not fit in a standard 3-ring Binder. Its still a beautiful Sheet. I love that it is form fillable. my handwriting can suck at times.

I am sorry to hear about your inconveniences with the metric size of the sheet. As a temporary workaround - before an imperial size version gets published - I suggest you can open pages of the filled out sheet in Adobe Photoshop, adjust it (or just parts) to a size you are comfortable with, and print it out on letter paper.

Would it be possible to release a version with either unrasterized content or with higher resolution than the current version. I have not tried scaling these up yet, but looking at it on the screen while zooming in, I suspect some of the smallest text won't scale up too well.

The current resolution seems to be 144 dpi which is bad. 600 dpi would do good if one wants to scale it up.

Otherwise a great idea and implementation!

Thank you Ari for your feedback and your patronage. I just uploaded a 300dpi version of the character sheet, in addition to the loRes version. I would have done this in first place, but in order to get the Full Size Preview to work, I had to convert the PDF to e-Publishing specifications. Hope the preview still works, and the scaled prints look pretty. ;)

These look awesome but will these work alright if they are printed 4.25" x 5.5" instead (so on letter size instead of A4)? Or will that cause issues? I mean, I already know there will be some weird white space around the edges... Is it possible for you to publish a Letter size version?

I thought about a letter sized version, when I started the design process. But being from central europe myself, I started with the familiar metric system. An american friend of mine printed the sheets on legal paper, without scale modification, but he had to do a few additional cuts. So far he was happy with the results. Maybe this could work for you too. Although I will not rule out to do a letter-size version in the future.

One thing that would make it easier to scale for those of us not using metric would be if you could release the pages 1/sheet per page instead of 4 up? That would mean I could print them 2 up at 5.5"x8.5" or 4 up at 4.25"x5.5" and at least the white borders would be uniform.

Sorry, this took a while to brew up, but now there are two new PDFs included in the download with the 1 sheet per page specification you requested. One PDF for the classes, and one PDF for all the other character details. That way you should be able to scale up the sheet to any page size of your convenience. I hope you are satisfied with the capabilities of the A6 character sheet, and I would be honoured if you considered a favorable review for this product.

How did printing it out on letter-sized paper work for you? Did you do any special cuts? Did the scaling come out nicely and everything is still readable?

What method of scaling did you use?

Hi Dean. Being based in Austria, I have no access to letter sized paper. If you shrink to fit A4 to letter size, it is possible that the small fonts come out VERY small. I recommend the hiRes 1-sheet-per-page version, which should fit on letter paper, although you may have to cut away quite some margin. Of course scaled up printout is always possible.

I noticed on the Monk sheet, it says Martial Arts die increases to a d6 at level 6, but it actually increases at level 5. Just thought I'd point it out.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
