Saints & Sinners: Ruby Edition

Saints & Sinners: Ruby Edition contains 10 unique NPCs to add to your game, either as helpers or contacts (Saints) or villains (Sinners). Each NPC entry has the following detailed information.

  • History – A brief history of the NPC.
  • Personality – A description of their personality.
  • Motives & Flaws – Their flaws and what drives them to be who they are.
  • Minions & Contacts – People they can call on when they need help.
  • Special Equipment – New equipment or magic items. In all, the supplement contains more than 10 new magic items, ranging from common to legendary.
  • Treasure – Personal treasure, trinkets, keepsakes.
  • X in Your Game – Suggestions for how you might introduce the NPC in your game, as well as an encounter idea or two.
  • Color of Magic – A description of how their magic appears to onlookers, including descriptions of a few specific attacks or spells.
  • Stat Block – A detailed stat block.

Color of Magic is the real driving force behind this supplement. We wanted to provide a DM with spell descriptions to help them bring the NPC to life. Here’s an example of Color of Magic from August Shadow and Portathius Hootscowl.

August’s family and spells appear as shadowed beasts for their effects. Each shadowed beast has an inky black appearance and a purplish aura. When he casts charm person or suggestion, a shadowy bee flies into his target’s ear. Hold monster conjures shadows which look like a snake and wrap around the target.

Portathius’s spells take the form of flowers, flower petals, flowerpots, or similar while replicating their beautiful, often mesmerizing or dangerous, properties. His color spray produces scintillating, golden pollen. When he casts blur, a cloud of rose petals dances around him, obscuring his image. His Splash of Petals attack appears as a multitude of colorful, radiant flower petals.

Thank you for the extensive preview. It greatly influenced me buying this book.

It does look pretty good.

If the author reads these, I do love pre-made lore things I can drop into my campaigns.

Looking for songs, poems, weapons, more npcs, etc

I do read these. Thank you for the feedback!

At the back of the supplement, you'll find more of my supplements. I think you'd enjoy Weapons of Legend and/or Villains & Lairs.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
